Been building an engine run stand. Wanted something universal and I could stand up and work on.. Had a 350 Chevy on it yesterday morning and a flathead mounted two hours later. Now I just need a radiator mount, battery box and fuel tank. Should be running by Saturday. 20190413_191104.jpg imagejpeg_0003.jpg

IMG_4364.JPG Added new spark plug wire stands and tightened valve covers. Also plumbed the gas line all the way to the tank and added an electric fuel pump for priming the carbs. It will run on stock fuel pump.
I did not touch that master cylinder and proportioning valve plumbing even though I was tempted to spruce up the brake lines. For now, I'm leaving as much history on the car as possible. Still plenty to do.
    I want to go riding!

    Hello,

I just drove over a hundred+ miles to another pre-opening meeting with the Price Transfer Automobilia Lions Dragstrip Museum staff/people. It has been closed for renovation for almost 2 years. Currently, it is getting ready for another opening in June of 2019. But, at this point in time, no information is coming out of the compound, except for those leaked out by the artists, construction people and staff.

So, mum is the word. No photos, either.

But, I am honored to have my early Lions Dragstrip films playing at the grand re-opening. There will be other monitors showcasing the action shots of the specific cars on display. So, I will need to be more creative with this next choice of edited film displays to fit into the theme.

It is beyond my doing to do/say anything else, other than say: “Get ready for the June 2019 reopening at the Price Transfer Automobilia compound.” THIS TIME, AS IT CURRENTLY STANDS, IT WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, NOT JUST FOR THE RACERS FROM LIONS FROM YEARS PAST.

The time schedule AFTER the June 2019 grand re-opening will be sporadic, with a possible once a week public offering or a mid week opening and one day on the weekend opening. It is just being hashed out by the staff. Nothing is carved in stone at this point, other than the opening in June, 2019. Check out the email address and ask questions. We are all in the dark, here except for the flyers.

I was amazed at the transformation at the Automobilia. So, suffice it to say, there will be different displays and people will be amazed. Did I mention a 60 car field for the biggest “Cacklefest” on the West Coast or for any matter, any coast? Get your calendar, also, your eyes and ears ready, for the first day of Summer event.

This is for you @LBCD and all of the So Cal hot rod/drag racing enthusiasts here on the HAMB and elsewhere. This time, it should be open to the public. So, mark your calendars or make it a summer driving event day. Even with the crowds/parking, it may be an event not to be missed.

Did you notice I used solid Chevy mounts, drilled one hole in the face and by turning them 90 degrees, I can use them on flatheads? Southern engineering, or is that Southern ingenuity?

This is great news! I will definitely try to make it. Also there will be some cool stuff happening in Bixby Knolls every first Friday. Here is an email from my friend the city manager, he is doing a great job on bringing back classics, customs and hot rods to the city. Maybe a cackle fest is in the works...need to get the ball rolling. [IMG]

Here is something that fits this thread. I was looking into mounting a bullet on my Plymouth wheel covers but instead I modified a Model A hubcap and I’m happy with the results. [IMG][IMG][IMG]
I need to add red and or gold to the center portion for added detail.

How deep is that shallow marine pan? Like you said it would have saved me a ton of work if I had known about them.

Actually, the Brit cars get a bad rap, they're not that bad, lol. They can be just as reliable as any old car. I've owned a bunch through the years.
That being said, I love driving my old Ford, and I intend to drive the hell out of it again this year (just shiney now) !

  23. What I did yesterday -

I started reworking a swap meet tag bracket to attach my car club plaque, I had a chrome one and a cheap aftermarket piece.

Since our club plaques were not the conventional size ( 6" x 12" ) the bracket had to be smaller & narrower by about 3 inches, so I just removed about a inch & a half from the middle of each side and welded it back together, I cleaned up the welds and my next step is to sand blast and repaint the bracket, I did bolt the plaque on for a test fit.

What I plan to do tomorrow -

Sandblast & paint, I should have it finished on Saturday. HRP

A little dressing up and it will be ready to bolt on the passenger side tail light. HRP

Pretty sure baling wire would be considered traditional, at least in So. Carolina;)

Bit into something hard in a ham sandwich, thought it was a piece of bone. Spit it out, as soon as it hit the ground the dog ate it. Later on I noticed I'm missing a filling. Hate going to the dentist. I may try JB welding it back in, if I can retrieve it.

Been assembling front suspension on 57 Chevy, trying hard to meet traditional guidelines for HAMB. Since becoming HAMB member in February, my build direction has taken a completely different direction. Given I have assembled many new parts it is challenging.

Chased parts for my GTX with the '58 and threw in 10 gallons of fresh gas on the way home.
