Projects Finally I get my Flathead powered T Roadster

  1. Can't say that I did. You know how hard it is to get around and socialize when you are there to race. Great time though.

Saw the vid's on facebook. I really wish I'd have known about this. You know, a couple of years ago after TROG West we were talking about doing something like this here on the HAMB, a non-sanctioned wildcat event for fun and camaraderie. Several guys poopoo'd it, saying negative things about running a drag race on the lake, or you'd have to get BLM approval, yadda yadda yadda, and then the interest in doing it just dried up. Someone posted something about getting a message from someone else saying a plan was in the works and to just be patient. And then nothing, it all went silent. I really didn't understand it. Seemed like a great idea to me, go hang out at the lake, run whatcha brung, have some fun, meet other hot rodders, wtf? How can you go wrong? But nothing. Then I see you r videos, damn! Wish I'd have known about it, that's all. How about a heads up next time?

  3. It was a Rolling Bones "invite only" event. I feel fortunate to have been part of it.

  8. Took the Roadster out to El Mirage again this last weekend, it was the last SCTA meet of the year and although I was not able to drive the race car I still had fun tearing up the lake bed in my T. Got some great shots taken by Mike Harrington. @Buick59

Congratulations on the ink @mctim64. The Hotrod and scenery are breathtaking...you do work very hard for what you have and that freedom to just cruise into the wild blue yonder is priceless.

Wow! What a beatiful little T. Makes me want to start a new build... And a good friend of mine has a nice 27 roadster body. I gotta try to convince him that he dosent need it nearly as much as I do.

And then that quick change! Man that is nice work.

I hope you enjoy it, I shure would.

That looks like a fun time...Big time. Great weather too.

Couple questions @mctim64...the headlights are reversed with bulbs and lenses removed for weight and streamlining?

Are you running a fan...I don't see one. If it has an OT one I understand but perhaps you remove it for racing and I know you like doing that...;).

Just curious and always enjoy you sharing events and the Hotrod fun with us...

They made everyone either turn them around or pull the glass from what I can see. Don’t think anyone was going fast enough for aerodynamics or weight to come into play.

  25. The headlight thing is because they told me to do it. I would have been fine leaving them in but they didn't want broken glass on the street and I wasn't going to remove them completely because of the way they are wired. This car has never had a fan on it. I designed it with one but made a measurement mistake and it didn't quite fit. Runs cool enough without so I never have added one.

I'm not even remotely up on racing but we drive these Hotrods everywhere at all speeds headlights forward generally with no issue so by spinning them around you'd think they are more than out of harm's way...quite often I see tape applied as well. I mean if you wipe out or the engine/tranny/rear end blows perhaps theres a chance of the reversed lights getting hit.

Seems a little bit extreme but the opportunity and setting looked pretty cool so regardless it must have been a fun day for you all.
