  2. on my 39 G.M.C. I had space on the running board IMG_4843.JPG .

  3. vintage fire extinguisher , I cut the bottom out of. it slides over a can I built, and bolted to the running board, to hold the "real" one. gravity holds it in place and it lifts off easily. IMG_4844.JPG

I think chrome makes it easier, by making it more attractive.

  5. yep, and you can get away with a larger one.
I put it right where dad did when he first built it.

  6. The only time I’ve needed mine (so far) is when I came up on a girl screaming “my bike is on fire!” And sure enough, a really nice, clean panhead bobber was on fire. I yanked out my fire extinguisher and by the time I got to her bike, another guy had put out the fire with Gatorade. Damn. Some mook got to be the hero using Gatorade. She was cute, too.

Parallel to the seat frame base on my 35 Chebby. Being an open car, out of sight, out of mind.

Right behind the seat in the lidded storage area we refer to as the “hold”,one in the trunk also in case the portable grill sets the grass on fire. ;) 49D86128-9B4A-4D00-B67B-8F7105A77D1D.jpeg

  10. All of my freightliners have them mounted on the drivers door sill. they are between the seat base and the door. My divers have used them a few times putting out fires in DD cars when making deliveries.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Both trunk mounted and easy to get to, but after reading this thread I'll look at interior options.

I wanted it where I could access it in the fastest manner. Since I have suicide doors I chose the steering column. I have practiced grabbing it on my way out and it works. Make sure it out of the way of your clutch foot.

  17. Every car has a 5 lb Halotron in a old crate in the back (wagon and panel), behind the seat in the '47.

  18. I had mine easy access in a box behind the seat in my 59 ElCamino. Just make sure the pin stays in before you stack things on top of it, this happened during Drag Week a few years ago made a big mess.

Passenger side front of seat. Is it really true that chrome extinguishers put fires out faster?

in my 57 wagon. I also have a fire blanket stored on top of it.
cleaned off the modern sticker and used a generic 'newstalgia' decal from a British seller.

Having one in the trunk is similar to having one in the back of a pickup. When my 39 Ford pickup had an engine fire, the extinguisher in the bed was thoroughly satisfactory and I got the fire out with no damage to the truck.

Same thought for buildings. Close to door, leave, reenter to deal with fire.
