In the process of making final preparations while the wind howls and pelts my garage window with little ice nuggets. I was planning to drive to the show but Mother Nature dumped about 8" of wet, heavy snow. Plan B was to rent an enclosed trailer which I will be picking up in the morning. A couple buds are coming over around noon to help load the '58 and make the short haul to the venue. Once we get set up I'll return the trailer and head back to give the truck a final "once over". I'll be sure to get plenty of pictures to share. If any of you plan to attend, stop by and say hello. I'll be lurking around all weekend...
What??? Snow in April in Minnesota, never heard of such a thing.... This is two bad years in a row for GSTA, with the 24" of snow Minneapolis received on Saturday of the show last year. Good Luck at the show, Drive Safe, and the Truck looks Great!
They gave me a prime spot on the main floor and the truck looks pretty nice under the lights. After a week of anxiety about the weather and a bunch of other things that had yet to fall into place, everything worked out perfectly. I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend...
That's a nice truck. Need some 60's era colored lights under the hood to show off the cool engine compartment. I remember guys would use those multi colored Christmas tree lights that sat on the floor and rotated around to each different color.
Black Sheep, I just got back from the show. I looked at your truck, which is amazing, but no one was around, so I missed you. Brian
With a little work and a lot of luck I made it through the weekend. To recap this weekends events, I met a lot of great people, had some fun showing off my truck and got to cruise home on a beautiful spring evening. The ‘58 took first in the Late Truck class and later won the John & Marge Foster Award, an honor bestowed by the show organizers. The GSTA members picked my '58 as "the vehicle they most wanted to take home." I am honored and humbled to be recognized by my peers, the folks who love cars for what they are, instead of what they're worth...
That yellow 50 Buick was awesome, talked to the owner who was a very nice guy. Compared stuff with my 49 Buick. The 49 Cad was also amazing. sooooo much work in it and it was perfect. As you can see I am into these cars as they share the same body as my 49. Hope to meet you at a future show. Brian
They are both fine cars Brian, of the two I like the Buick a little better because of the "outside the box" color choice. It's a lot of yellow but it totally works on that car...
