  8. Pretty sure this is Barney Navarro's car. That's probably him working on it.

  12. I too have the same picture hanging in my office.
It was taken in Wisconsin at a GM dealers inventory storage lot.
It is in a college town but I forget the name of the town.

Up until 1958 (I was 10 in 58) the end of the Streetcars in Milwaukee, city switched over to the electric Bus. My Mom would take me shopping with her to downtown Milwaukee, we would shop, have lunch and go to a movie, an all day adventure, then ride the Streetcar back home. The ride over the Viaduct to and from was very kool and I got to flip the seats back at line end. This is a very good memory of time spent with my Mother, memories/priceless.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Electric Bus, Milwaukee Wi. I remember drivers getting out with a long pole and putting vertical's back up to electric lines as they disconnected sometimes, the Streetcars had the same deal/problem. [IMG][IMG]

When I was a kid it happened a lot. As the car stopped to let one of us on (only 1 transfer among us) one of the other kids would pull the wire off the overhead. When driver would get out with his pole and put the wire back on the other kids would pile on the bus.

We used a similar tactic with only one transfer. One kid would get on the car and get a new transfer. As the car was leaving the rider would pass his transfer out of the window to the next kid who would run alongside the car to the next corner. That kid would get on and get a new transfer and the process would be repeated until everyone was on the car.
