Technical Anyone have pics of a SBC with tripower and a water pump riser ?

Great examples shown...Good job(s)..... BUT- Let's ask a Q about having a slightly, or if not a warmed up engine- And I'm not referring to temperature....Like as we'de say "radical", with cam/compression.....
How would/does the 6 pump do? I don't have this set up, but curious?

 

You are over thinking it. There are many over-bored, cammed, multi-carb 6-cylinder motors out there that use that pump. Cooling a car is as much about water flow thru the engine and heads and proper T-stat/radiator as HP. If you are thinking of going that way, i suggest you see if Edelbrock or Flow Cooler offers the 6-cylinder pump in their "optimized/updated" version.

Dont forget, moving the pump higher on the radiator allows you to better utilize the potential of the cooling capabilities of your 30's radiator. It orients the fan where it belongs in relation to the rad-core.

I'm pushing 350-375 hp in my .060 over 350 and i have never had a problem.

 

No issues with mine getting hot, but had to get a straight thermostat hsg. neck to clear the hose from the pump riser.

They all look great , but I personally hate a chrome water neck , they will leak sooner or later .

 

.....I'm with you, Dave. I think the chroming process tends to warp them slightly and you often fight leaks forever. I see where folks pile on the gasket maker to get them to seal and it runs outside the base looking funky. I try to save various housings with different outlet angles in case I need a particular one for a clearance issue.

 

I think I’ll have to change water neck housings, thanks for the info.

I kind of have a thing for the factory Chevy hi-perf cast iron thermostat housings, these were used in the mid/late 60's, you won't have a problem with warpage/leaks on these.
I seem to recall that Dorman makes replacements, not positive.



I wanted to use one on the 350 in my Suburban but had to make this adapter to change the orientation. I removed the casting number on this one, wish I hadn't as these have become a little valuable to the musclecar restorers.

 

A company named EverHot used to make nice cast replacements . I always changed to these on an engine build , never had one issue
