We completely disassembled the front seat, I had a lot of flaws that had showed up over the years and redesigned it we added wood to the bottom seat of the metal frame and also to the back of the metal frame, the way it was designed it must have been made for a roadster or a coupe, I got it second hand at a swap meet and just covered the rotten foam with a Tijuana blanket.



I had considered using bucket seats but decided to retain the bench seat and we are trying to make it look as much like the rear as possible.

No cool photo's of anything being covered but it is ready to put it back together next weekend after the new foam is cut and the seats are all sewn up. HRP

 

Looks like you added A/C to the car as well correct?

Thanks Bill, we didn't get as much accomplished this weekend as we would have liked but but we have 4 more weekends before Knoxville and I believe we can get it finished by then. HRP

The old sedan is really being upgraded. I love the new interior and the heat and air will be nice too.

I realized the VA was the best on the market and why not add some creature comforts, I've never had a heater or air, I never had a emergency brake or a horn, I never had a interior or a windshield wiper ( that worked) I decided while I was this deep I might as well address all the missing pieces. HRP

 

Next thing you know, somebody will say "Nice street rod".

The car was last painted black in 1962 and the fenders were repaired in the late 80's and shot in black primer, I have no intention of painting the sedan but I do actually plan to wash the car, it's been quiet a while since it's seen soap and water.

Hopefully I will be able to post a few more in progress photo's this weekend.HRP

 

Dave finished up the rear seat bottom with plywood and foam with the exception of covering it, he decide he wanted to finish reworking the front beach seat frame and he also cut and sculpted thicker foam to make it look more like the original style.



He wants to upholster the front seat before he does the rear bottom, he thinks there might not be enough material and if this is the case I will have to drive over to Duncan, South Carolina next week, hopefully They still have some material from the same run so there will be no variations.

We knocked of early today but tomorrow is another day. HRP

 

The weekend is over and I wish I could report more progress but I'm afraid most of what we did really don't show well in photo's, the front seat is back together and a lot of foam has went into it to pad it up to resemble the rear seat, we all know the Tudor sedans didn't come with a bench but having had a couple of Fordor's we have always liked the bigger roomy seat.
It doesn't look like much but there was a lot of work involved in making the seat.





Dave measured and made templates for the 4 pieces that fit above the window both front and back but they too haven't been covered.

Next weekend Dave says both the front and rear seats should be upholstered along with the pieces over the doors.

The boots were made for the shiftier & park brake.


Minor addition but getting the overhead light in sure looks good and is brighter than I would have thought.

John, a while back Ryan offered these first come first serve, I don't remember how many were produced but they were limited & number, mine was 54 and I was going to use it in Brendas wagon but she likes the white knob better.

In the comfort department I agree. HRP

 

Gotta go back to Duncan,S.C. and get some more material in the morning, Dave says we are 3 yards short. HRP

How do people get into the back seat? Does the whole front seat tilt forward?
