Mounting seats is a lot harder when you care what they look like

You will be happy to have that BIG BLOCK installed instead of that mouse engine in the background. :)

    Looking great!
Those 60’s GM seats are the only buckets that look “right” in a 57’

That 406 ran pretty good but I could tell a difference already with just a spin around the block!

I used a set of Hookers headers made for a big block Chevy into a 1957 Chevy, no issues or cutting up anything. I used the saddle front mount from Hurst and only had to tap back the firewall on the PASS side. Another thing, I did not have a heater core, or metal funnel mounted on the firewall. I follow the instructions that came with the saddle mount and placed the mounting brackets where they said to be placed. Oh yea, one more thing, I had to block off the mechanical fuel pump and run an electrical pump located in the trunk.

That last photo is all you would have to show to someone outside our hobby to describe who we are and why we do it.

Interesting. I had to delete my mechanical pump as well unfortunately. Too much iron to squeeze in there!

  22. Great work tater bug. I'm one of those 60/70 guys too, and love the BBC too. I'm doing a 1961 Chevy Biscayne 2 door sedan in the same 60/70 high school/ drag race style as your 57. I installed new ball joints, bushings, ball joint spacers, 409 station wagon front springs with 1 to 2 inch spring spacers, and also a front disc brake setup. The car will have three pedals and a 4 speed. Ford 9 inch, with a pair of Lakewood ladder bars with will be replacing the lower control arms. I have two different sets of tires and wheels but haven't decided which I am going to use yet. Small block right now but plan to change it over to a BBC later. At a later date I will do the body and paint and interior, right now I just want a driver and will work on it as money let's me. Great thread on your build. I also have a 38 Willys 2 Dr all steel sedan I am doing to. Hey is that a AFX Nova build I see in the back ground, would be great to see some pics on it, do you plan to finish it, just wondering. Love to see the stuff from the old days, it's what made this all work, great job on your 57.

Thanks my man! Sounds like you’ve got perfect taste! That’s my son’s AFX build. He just finished college and is getting married in the fall but he has been doing some great work on it when he can. He has a build thread started somewhere on here. We built him a 62 Biscayne when he started driving. I’ll bet you can catch some pics of it on his AFX build thread.
