Inglewood for me.. Very close to the bakery in Culver City. My Uncle Bob owned a "beer joint" across the street from Helms called the Talon in the 50's.

    Steve,
Donated his XKSS to HARRAH'S AUTOMOBILE COLLECTION back in the late 60's. His only requirements were to consult him for any work done to the car. He had hammered it a bit and the Jag required some body work and a total repaint.

This was before cell phones, so we had a land line to contact him on. Some guy answers the phone and was quick at giving the brush off until the XKSS was mentioned and who was calling. Post haste Steve was on the phone. I explained what we were wanting to do to the car. He asked for the color sample of BRG. The sample was sent and approved. The work commenced and the car was cosmetically restored and painted the approved color. After the restoration was finished Steve visited the collection and was most pleased with the results.

    just sayin'

To this day, I talk about the Helm's Truck. People do not believe that they existed and what they sold from them.

Whew did you miss me LOL. Just going through 500+ photos posted while I was off the air for 5 days so I don't get bitched at for reposts LOL. :)

My ISP took a lightning strike and I couldn't even look at HAMB on my phone or PC, boring 5 days.

So just a tease while I go through everything I missed. A regular posting later. :)

    Hey D,
Rumor had it that Terry "TheToad" Fields was cruising around Lions Dragstrip during the 1958 season. So Cal had some nice cars at the drags that year. Was it real? What? ...the movie was made 15 years later? Awww...
    THE TOAD?

"Pics or it did not happen" is heard quite often. In reality, there were plenty of 348 1958 Impalas racing in the class that year. The top guy was one in a brown 348 Impala. Our black 58 Impala was up there in the running many times. The white one and the light blue one were fast Impalas, but were "runner ups" many times, too. Quick starts were the edge with equally prepared cars. But, we got trophies for the wins in the class when everything was right on the money.

There was one big Buick that made a mess of the herd of Impalas on many Saturdays.
