Hot Rods Pictures of 235/75’s on 8’s

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by model A hooligan, Apr 8, 2019.

  1. looked a bit and I don’t really see many pictures, anyone got any pics of open wheel hotrods running 235 75 on 8” wheels?

Just picked up some whitewall Coker’s and I’m thinking they may be a little narrow looking.

  2. No picture, but I ran those on an 8" rim on a pickup I had. From what I remember, the sidewall appears straight, not as much bulge as with a narrower rim.

  3. Hoping someone has pictures of them with n their car, can’t seem to find anything even on google images

  5. They are probably made for 6" or 7" wide wheels.

  6. Kinda know, I want to know how they look. coker says 6-8.5 wheels

  7. Those don’t really look all that bad actually. Debating on selling the whites for some 255 blackwalls or run the 235’s and get some 165 whites for the front

You found more than I did,I havnt found any pictures. Thanks for that

  8. I ran that size on an off topic pick up...as others have said, they fit and the rim allows the tire to fill out the sidewalls...they look good.

My 30 coupe with 15x8 "custom" wheels, 48 Plymouth centers on 8" Speedway hoops. VERY shallow backspace when I ran these on my Plymouth. I plan on pushing them in about 1.5-2 inches for the Ford. 235x75x15 RWL tires ground to wide whites. IMG_2582.jpg IMG_2583.jpg

  10. Cool, here we go some good replies here. They don’t look as bad as I thought

I’m used to running these 29x9.00 meats but offed them to try and be a little more Johnny law friendly.

I wish I could find a whitewall 145 front tire

I am running 235 70 15 tires on 8" rally wheels on the back of my other El Camino. Been doing it since the 90's. A couple of different manufacturers and have not had any trouble. The sidewalls look just fine and the ride quality is good. I would be more concerned about wheel offset for your application than 235 tire fit on an 8"rim.

My 35 Chebby over 15yrs ago before the rear fenders went on and later with fenders. BTW they're 7" Cragars with 235:75:15s. They're 29" tall and 9.3" at their widest between sidewalls when mounted. They're 6" Cragars on the front.

  15. Yeah 255’s are the size I’d like but these 235’s was super cheap do I picked them up at a swap. Thing is I’ll have to get whites for the front or just sell these 235’s and buy 255 blackwalls to match the front

  16. My offset is perfect. I have chrome smoothies that I had made for my car

  17. Can’t decide if I want to run these or get black 255’s

Get some tire paint and put the whitewalls inside and paint them. Or sell them.
Keep in mind that the 255 s are a lot bigger than the 235's and the 255's are typically 70 series rather than 75 series.

I had 255 70 x15s for the rear of my RPU and felt they were too wide in the tread and section width.
I had them on 8" wheels.
I sold them and bought 6" wheels and 7.00x16 Excelsiors.

  19. 255’s are the perfect look on 8’s. I think my slicks was bigger than 255’s and they fit pretty well.

255 tires are not the perfect look if you’re looking for something traditional.

I had the 255s on 8” wheels on my RPU and had 185s on the front on 15” wheels.

I liked the look but felt it was a little bit too modern for the look I wanted.

So I sold them and changed to the 5:00x 16 and 7:00x16 Excelsiors.

I like the look much better.

Silly me since the site is about traditional hot rodding I just figured. :D
Just kidding , I get it and for the period the bigger rubber looks good.
I like both looks actually I just had to choose what made me happy.

  27. The specs say it's a 9.2 inch wide tire, I just put some on 8 inch Cragars 20190408_202107.jpg 20190410_115915.jpg 20190408_202343.jpg
