That under the door trim piece is one major pain to get in place, be sure it is ok before paint time. Bob

Well,
It’s been a few months since I last posted on here. Progress has been slow, but it would seem as if we are nearing the end on trying to make this all fit..
Honestly, if I had the choice again I would recommend buying a pre built body from brookville or if your in the us have someone like flop assemble for you..
It hasn’t been easy.

Here’s where it’s at, quarters are pinned, floors are spot welded. Some extra bracing to compensate where the frame step through the subrails has been installed & a seat frame brace has been done,Doors are opening & closing nicely now and a little cowl tank brace has been installed.

Here’s some pics, really looking forward to having this thing painted and home for final assembly

Good stuff... good tips... keep 'em coming...
The second pic above shows the flange you left when you cut out the tank...
IMO... drill 1/8" holes every 8", you can anchor your wiring harness to them...
they may help support a heater, the back side of a glovebox, mount a dome light...etc.

 

These pics help.
I copied Missiesdad1 on his cowl braces. Plan on using the wall of the tank for mounting places like the wire panel.

I have been following and see the skills you have developed during the process, this is how we learn to fix shit that others can't. I have a 29 on 32 rails now, but I have had several before this and have a 29 tub, I have traded a few things with Missiesdady1 he lives about 40 miles south of me . Attached is a pic of my tub and roadster both on 32 frames. Keep up the good work. Frank

 

Yep! That’s the idea.
Fuse panel will be mounted behind there, I also plan on putting a full stereo in this car so speakers under the cowl panel also..

I’ve also heard ( may have even been posted in this thread) people welding washers on there end to route wiring and easily hang stuff from

Hopefully not to long before all the fun stuff begins

Well a little more progress, I spent my Saturday with my panel beater friend and we got the majority of the panel work required finished on the roadster, over the next few weeks it’ll be prepped for paint and hopefully have it back home mid February.

Managed to finish up a lot of welds, weld up a lot of holes, fill the gap on the rear quarters where the doors were supposed to sit into originally, finish that frame right up and get the cowl tank shaved.

I’m getting really excited to have it home

Fantastic thread, and the several dimensioned charts are priceless!
I noticed this in one post above: "Can anyone tell me where these four pieces need to go?"
Well...beware of jokesters and sadists working for brookville! My wife bought me a factory assembled '32 body from a fleamarket from a guy who wanted to start over with a kit to make it easier for some customizing. He was a very experienced restorer/builder who ran a successful restoration shop.
About a year later he appeared at my house clutching several little triangular braces and asked to look over the complete body. We crawled all over it inside and out, then rolled it over on its side and looked again. No sign of anything like them, and no vacant corners where they might fit. None in the real henry car either.
He installed them in the trash can and left. There were 4 pieces that looked like two sets...I think they tossed some random bits into his box just because he had assured them that he was an expert who would have no problem...

At the b pillar there is a bracket that is welded to the pillar. Could you sand a pic of that? I also need the pic of where the trunk hinge is.

Congratulations on a job well done Nick. The "Finish Line" is in sight. This will all become a distant memory when you take your first blast down the road with a grin on your face so big it hurts. Nick, you have came along way, your A is looking really good. You have increased your skill level a lot, you have something you can be proud of and best of all you can say I built it with the help of a few friends. The cowl brace that you built will keep your cowl in alignment and your doors fitting good, because when you cut the tank out the cowl it looses all it's strength. I know Missiedaddy and he lives about 40 miles from me and he is a great person
Beside saving on the freight you earned a (I Can Do It ) attitude. That will get you further in life than anything else.
Nick you did it. I can't wait to see pictures of you driving it.

 

Nick ,between you, Missydad, and several others I hope to have my car in a box close in 6 mos. B'ville 1/4s and doors. I have a good cowl.
