Projects Removing the tweed

Yes you should,I had to strip everything down to bare metal so the paint would stick.

 

I was looking on the SMS website for cloth but it was hard to tell what I liked with those small swatches they had,I was trying to look at original 1950s cars at shows but all I had seen were not original but now that its done they will come out of the wood work.

 

I like the easy to keep clean,that tweed I had got stained and looked like crap.

Might look into Hammertone paint....Many 30-40's Trucks used that on the interior metal doors /dash panels...

 

this whole tweed problem could have been eliminated before it started with a couple of well placed NO TWEED ZONE signs since it seems to work so well for other issues.

 

Yeah, that coffee spill doesn't clean up to well and that Cheeseburger that dripped mustard leaves a nasty stain. HRP

 

My problem was I read too many street rod type magazines,they all got thrown out.

 

Tweed....Smeed….I am still waiting for my "Members Only" jacket to come back.

 

Oh yea, I'm partial to rubber flooring or IF the car came with carpet those full size one piece floor mats that went over the center hump (front and rear).......anyone remember those. I found 2 sets at the junkyard in the 90's and still have them, 1 black and 1 clear.

I have some of those too but will not work in my vehicles with a floor shifty and I do not want to cut them up.

 

rebuilt my 40 Ford tudor in 2012-13, had grey tweed interior, found original brown seat covers under the tweed, before & after pics
