Thought I'd share my fun bed idea with the HAMB! Wanted to do something a little different than the stock (bed strip) bed and this is the result! I have two boards utilizing the angle strips and then in between a lockable door to the under carriage. When you lift the handle, it reveals a hidden toolbox!

Looks like a farmer designed it. No offense meant but you asked.

That's pretty cool, but in my case I'd need to move 50 pieces of crap to get it open. I need the Dutch door version..

Haha this is perfect! The truck had many years as a farm truck, so the shoe fits :)

Since you dig it that is all that matters. I think it is bush league.

    Add a door bell.

  10. Still use it as a pick up?Seems like the hardware would be an issue.

Hidden handle and hinges would have been nice. Maybe do Rev. B later on, but for now enjoy it:)

  12. Great idea !
If you are happy with the results then good on ya.

It would look cool if you could of made it hidden.

Make a door out of the original strip wood and spacers with hidden hinges and a recessed handle and lock.

Would look more original with a place to store moonshine on runs!
    I like the idea.

  14. You should either: make the hinges and handle hidden, or go full bore kook and make it look like an outhouse door, crescent moon and all. Go all in, or don't go at all.

I like it. Would prefer a nice classic doorknob, though...just for effect!

I'd add another pair of hinges & another hasp so you don't have to walk clear around the truck to open it ….

Give Charles a break. It's functional and does what HE wants.

What gets me is guys that buff up their stainless (or chrome) runners, and varnish the wood strips to death, and then wouldn't dare haul anything w/o moving pads at least. They sure look pretty at cruise nite tho.

Might want to consider putting a storm door on top of it to protect it from the weather.

I like that you are willing to try something different.
And some of the responders do have good ideas to improve on it.
