    Thanks, Jim. Somehow I thought the photo was several years earlier than when Ralph came to Champ cars and didn't even consider him.

    That's the old Pike here in Long Beach. I was lucky enough to have ridden on the Cyclon Racer many times when I was a kid, it was torn down in the late 60s. The Pike struggled on for another decade until it closed around '80. I remember as a kid trying to peek inside the tattoo shop that was down there, it's since moved but still in Long Beach, the country's oldest tattoo shop.
    At the top of the photo just to the right is Signal Hill, a city within the city of Long Beach. I was sent to a military academy that use to be almost on the top of the hill. It was on Cherry street on the ocean side of things.

    They still are blaming cars & diesels, cause it would cost too much to clean up industies with water injection on all polluters.
    After the war in 1945, L.A. council members agreed to banish all backyard incinerators & burning. claming it would clear up the air., the rest is history. So J.C. Agajanian became the trash collector czar with his proposal for city wide collections
