WHOA! Is that a water pump hooked up to the middle original exhaust port or is it just overlaid on top of the blocked off port? I'd love to hear about the exhaust port re-routing a la early Cadillac flattie..
That is the Dick Landy built. Ron Main owned FlatFire engine. First flathead over 300 mph. Yes he did run water in the old exhaust ports. The exhaust exited through the original intake ports and new intake ports were installed with lots of welding and machining. I think you could google FlatFire or Ron Main and find lots about the engine.
No offense, but any Miller / Offy / Deusey makes that Bugatti look like a pile of surplus plumbing. stuck on a LEGO project gone awry.
Supercharged DOHC straight 8 driven by Louis Chiron. Was this his own? Doesn't look like Bugattis or Alfas he raced in the 1930's.
The Delage that Chiron raced in the 1929 Indy 500. Started 14th & finished 7th in his only start @ Indy.
Unusual in the sense of "not old or vintage", but with the use of these nifty adapters you can bolt any small block Ford 289/302 intake onto a 4.6 Ford V8. This one needs to be completed for an as of yet undetermined project down the road...as if we ever get much down time at the shop!
