Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by benniesrad, Jan 20, 2019.

  1. Aligning all the details, body lines on the roof looks like fun!, haha keep up the good work. reminds me of the red one the Cavaliers did. Think it's Georges.

Going to weld the center of a model a front crossmember section on the the original so I can lower the front a few inches ,going to change the back end by replacing the rear crossmember with another model a cross member so I can run a buggy style leaf spring that way I can run a quick change rear end

  9. ^^^That's exactly what I did after pie-cutting the rear rails [no rear-mounted fuel tank for me] so they fit up against the trunk floor 34frameboxing.jpg . First time I got the model A cross member up too high in the frame rails which made the back of the car sit too low. Had to cut the spot welds and move the cross member down lower in the frame rails. Then the spring u-bolts hit the quick change. Turned the u-bolts around so the u-bolt nuts were on top for clearance..all OK now

Good score on the hood. You always find great stuff at the Lonestar swap meet.
I found a cherry pickup bed for my model a truck, along with tailgate and chains.
    Your chopped coupe looks mean.

  20. It appears you've been doing 33-34 fords all your life. My first chop was a VW bug. Like choppin an egg.

  21. Nice thread. I have been down this road myself. Lookin good. Maybe you can have it finished up by the end of July. www.hotrodarama.us

I've just been lurk'n around just watch'n and even learn'n. They chopped mine 4 1/2" I'm told back in the mid 50's, ('55 or '56) and I really enjoyed seeing how it can be done. (I have the entire history of my car from purchase in '34 to my buying it in '95, with pictures through its entire history)
What an outstanding accomplishment you've done. Your one talented guy. This is an absolute killer 1934 ford coupe built so far and your to be congratulated.
I am also considering the lakester headers and have delayed not knowing how they would look and how low they are after installation. Now that I have seen yours, and how damned good they look that may be my next project on it. As far as seats, mine are 90's Mustang power (3) way power using the mounting that came with them. I of course can raise and lower them from the highest geek (square in my day) look, or lower them to the rolled up T shirt sleeve, arm out the window (way to cool for you) look.
Can't and won't post pic. because IFS/IRS suspension and wouldn't if I could because I'd consider that hijacking your thread for my ego. I am looking forward to the day you consider it done, (even though they never are). being chopped.jpg being chopped 1.jpg finished chop.jpg

The beginnings of the radiator for the 34 making the top and bottom thanks and the core is a 4 row high efficiency with dimpled tubes to keep the car real cool 20200331_143852.jpeg 20200331_144128.jpeg IMG_20200331_183759_980.jpeg
