Yes, they are!!!!!!!! It's a true survivor!!!!!!

Go to about 10:25 in the following video, and there is a short clip of the 34 pushing the dragster through the staging lanes. Also, at about 2:45 is another clip of the 32 coupe. Of course, this is in addition to all of the other Cool Stuff that was at The Meltdown Drags.

  5. On my rear end a 69 Camaro 10 bolt I tried a disc kit with integral parking breaks and the calipers hit the frame while the original drums did not. This was on a 47 but goes to show they do have an effect on width.

A little teaser, hand made aluminium body by GM Holden. 100 were produced in Coupe and roadster style. Only this one remains.

MARK...totally awesome display of auzzie built HOLDEN bodies. Especially the ROADSTER PICKUPS . I recognize the black 34-35 tub from Argentina , that was owned by the Mario Caplan family whoo gathered and sold a lot of early open cars to North America.

The other 1933 black touring is a standard and only made in Australia. In north America we only produced the coupe in 2 versions of 3 w and a 2 door sedan.

Question to mark.......did holden produce a 1933 Chevrolet standard series " roadster pickup or UTE "

Not all of us sit around on lawn chairs critiquing the people walking by or the cars driving by. We get out and look at the cars and admire what others have done. The fun in going to a STREET ROD SHOW is actually THE DRIVE.

The best part is we actually get to DRIVE THERE, not trailer our vehicle , because its only good for racing now.

Mark that 1934 Auzzie UTE was recently here in the USA up for auction. It was also posted on Hemmings online! Also posted on Hemmings online is 1932 Chevrolet Moonlight Speedster Pattern Prototype.

There was a set of wood top bows for a 33-35 chev roadster on ebay........3 pieces, 2 bows and the part on the top of windshield. I bought the 2 bows right away and the windshield part was re-listed 4-5 times before it sold. I have never seen a set offered before. My roadster has the original top bows and irons. These ebay ones were a recent reproduction , 2nd set , for a roadster that were made to sell.

I have had my 34-35 roadster since 2012 and have never seen a TOP IRONS SET listed for sale. I am thinking that the roadster PICKUP used the same. Unfortunately the only guy I knew Glenn Stauffer of Jeykl Island GA who was an authority on the subject of chev open cars passed away a couple of years ago. The tan and rusty orange 2 tone R P was one he built. I believe he said , back in the 80's when i spoke to him, that he made it out of a 34 chev phaeton front half..

WELCOME calichevyv8. 1933 Chevrolet master series CA, all the body parts are 1933 master only. Hardest parts to find are running boards and gas tank cover panel. 90% of the production was 33 masters, very little of the smaller standard series was made.

1933 is a neat Chevrolet as its the transition year from the squarish 32 to a more sleeker 34-35 . Has the gravel shield in front which signifies the transition

It really isn't necessary to explain the preference for "Street Rods" over "Traditional" Hot Rods. After all, different strokes for different folks.

However, could part of your post be clarified a bit? That is, the following:
"Lots of RETRO people think those old olds, buicks, caddys, 393 hemi are cool?? With a 10 gallon tank and having to stop on the highway every 100 miles, isn't fun, isn't cool".

Do you think that just these specific "Traditional" engines are not cool? Or do you think that other "Traditional" engines, such as flat head Fords, (V8's, 4 and 6 cylinders), flathead Pontiacs, 265 / 283 Chevys, GMC, and Chevy sixes and others are not cool, as well? In your eyes, should everything have an LS engine in it?

If a "Traditional" engine gets good gas mileage, does that make it cool?

I assume that the reference to "393 hemi" was misprint. They are 392 Chrysler Hemi's........Of course, there are also Dodge, and Desoto Hemi's, too. But none of those were 393 cubic inches.

Does your opinion of "isn't fun, isn't cool" also go toward all Hot Rods, and Customs built in a "Traditional Style"?

By the way, I too have memories of the first meet in Peoria, in 1970.

Thanks Mike, appreciate the info, it’s hard to find good facts going back to the 30’s. Took me a bit just to figure out the difference from a Eagle to a Master, then I saw stuff about a Deluxe and am now more confused haha, this is the place to get the info though.

Rory, wow, great stuff. I see that it has a Fisher body tag and wonder if it was it originally a cabriolet or coupe?

I note that the car posted features OEM buck and that Holden produced Ozzier cars were base on Vauxhall Hurlington. Holden was a coach builder producing bodies for a number of manufacturers before it was purchased by GM. The buck appears to be a different profile to that of Ozzie cars. US bodies are squarer across the back by comparison to Ozzie bodies which are more rounded, both drop down to the belt line to meet lower profile door. The US body is flat at rear wind deflector whereas Ozzie body drops away. Also the US rear wind deflector is relatively flat whilst the Ozzie one has more of an apex in the middle and is not as flat.

Here's another Moonlight Speedster that I recall from years ago, this time LHD. I don't know whether or not it's a faux or genuine article? Above article indicates that only 10 were produced by Chevrolet.

It's so great to receive such a well thought out reply. LOL!!!

Ask a few polite questions, and .....LOL!!!

Of course, your reply is much more interesting when the quote is expanded. Especially, the last comment, (that is the "Flapping Gums" part) .....It speaks volumes.

I just found it curious for a post on a board for "Traditional" Hot Rods and Customs to state that "Traditional" engines were not cool. Add in the definite "Street Rod" tilt to many other posts, and the curiosity increased.

Guess that there's a reason for the name "madmike".

  26. There is a huge wealth of chevy car information on this thread .
These early chev cars are the most confusing cars on the planet to build or buy parts for .
I have been building early chev cars for 25 years and still finding out new information .

Apparently the 1933 CA model series was called an EAGLE for the early part of production and then a MASTER in the latter part of 1933. For 1934 it stayed as master only. Not sure I have seen the 33 eagle/master referred to as a DELUXE.. But compared to a 1933 CC series STANDARD , you could say they are a deluxe as the car was much fancier. OH, nothing on a 33 standard fits a 33 master.

Mark got some info from the VCCA PURIST site Junkyarddog on that Fisher Body Tag!
Neither! The Fisher Body tag indicates that the vehicle in question is a 1932 Coach. It was made in Kansas City and it was the 12,806th coach made in the Kansas City factory in 1932. The car had a gray mohair with a pattern interior and the vehicle was painted Serge Blue and Black with either Cream Medium or St. Germain Red wire wheels.

That’s what it sounds like, post 1940 the deluxe wording came in. 1933 CA Master would be the correct model.
