Technical Where the hell does the felt washer go on early Ford kingpin

I've searched and looked at stuff I have kicking around and can't nail down a firm answer on this thing. On 33 34 Ford passenger car kingpins where the thrust bearing is on top of the spindle, where if anywhere, do you use a felt washer with felt cup.
I know on the later style kingpin with no mechanical brake cup the felt and cup go on top of the spindle but I'm pretty sure that's not the case with these.
Feel free to bust my balls its ok I should know this.

Thank you for the replies. So I guess it goes like this? Its weird I have a couple spindle sets here and none had these washers in place.

 

I don't think so. The weight of the car would crush the tin washer and felt.

 

I feel like it goes between the axle and the bottom boss of the spindle but don't know.

 

Opps! Time to start over. Here's the parts pictorial from Green Book. Seem like 33-34 are a different set up than later years. The little felt washer #3288 does not go under the king pin head. It fits into retainer part # 3125 and is inserted onto the lower steering arm. In later years the little felt washer did fit directly under the head of the Spindle bolt. The spindle bolt lock nut determines the pre-set "crush" on the felt washer and retainer. Sorry for the double pix.

Just an update. I put the kingpins in with new bearings and the felt and cups in the correct locations. Fits right and steers easy. Thanks for all the help
Yes I will wipe off the excess grease.

 

Another observation. While searching for the answer to my original question I read a few times about people removing the mechanical brake cup to clear juice brakes. My 40 brakes clear fine without modification. So no need for me to remove them as far as function goes.

Maybe its necessary for other setups I don't know. Certainly you could achieve a cleaner look by removing them but for me I like them on there.
