Man that is a heck of a mark down. I've seen used ones that they were asking $300 to $350 for.

I don't even need them and I think I should get a couple.
Hmmm, that sure would soften the blow on a new tunnel ram!

Sounds like they're all sold out, but thanks Swade41 for sharing, this is the kind of stuff that it pays to know about.

  8. Still showing that they are in stock when I checked right now. Be aware it's a no choke mechanical secondary set up for two four in-line tunnel ram applications.

says theyre in stock still! they could still be run by themselves youd just have to add a choke or run without a choke

  10. I just got a pair...……… so there still in stock

some small changes to make for my blower application. Cheaper than a pair of used ones that will still need changes !

I have an 850 CS carb list-4223 in my stash.... Don't have nothing to put it on at the moment.... Guess I'll let it collect dust for a little while longer... ;)

  14. 660s work good on the track. They can work good on the street to. I modified the slot that controls the secondaries. But grinding some material away the primaries are able to open some before all eight barrels are flowing. I use a caliper between the base and primaries to get them opening the same amounts. I would grind the about half way up the slot then make a gradual ramp to start opening the secondaries. It's easy to wash the cylinders down with that much gas flowing. This modification really helps for the street. I wonder if they also have the various metering plates on sale to really dial them in.

The metering plates can be machined for screw in air bleeds of different diameters..... Got a picture here somewhere.... I'll post it later this evening... ;)

You could use a secondary metering block from a 3310 carb......

  19. I dont have a pic. If you look at the pic posted above it should help. The secondaries are controlled by the slot in the linkage. The inside of the slot gets removed with a air file or dremel tool. Grind enough so the follower wont open the secondaries until you want them to. These carbs run all four butterflies all the time. Street driven cars dont need a tunnel ram and eight barrels flowing. The accelerator pump is also pumping out of eight nozzles each time the linkage moves. The modification makes the carb act as a double pumper. The secondaries wont open until you want them to. Start with a little material removed and work your way up to get it the way you want.

The only problem with that is they will no longer fit inline on a tunnel ram.....

I think I'm going to make that Holley site a regular stop on my morning Internet rounds. With carburetors going the way of the Dodo bird, this may be the start of something good.

True, you can control when the secondaries open but the center squirter will give the rear barrels a pump shot immediately off idle, not when they finally open. That was why the double pumpers were introduced with their staged secondary control and individual pump cam.

Hate to say it. This means carbs are being phased out. :(

  26. Fordors that is true. The modification is a bandaid fix for street driving. I ran these carbs on a few cars over the years and the modification worked well.

I honestly know nothing about them. maybe someone else will chime in....they look a little too modern for me but a drop base air cleaner would probably hide it. the sale units do not have chokes. seems like they are geared towards racing?

Unless you mount those sideways.... Then you'll need carb spacers...
