How big of a job is it to replace the windshield gasket on my 1936 Ford car?? Is it necessary to remove the frame ? Any help or information would be great. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

36 penny, I just had look at mine and I don't think you'll get the rubber back into the groove with the windshield still attached to the hinges. Unfortunately it looks like it's gonna hafta come apart. Nothing's ever easy is it ??? MITCH
Yes indeed, the windshield needs to be removed from the car. After that, the old rubber needs to be COMPLETELY removed from the channel, and I mean completely! You will need some stout dental picks (at least I did) to ensure you remove all the remnants of the previous gasket. Once clean, installing the new gasket was pretty straight forward. I’ve heard horror stories about how crummy the new gaskets are and how they don’t fit, etc. I must have been extremely lucky (not likely) as I didn’t have any issue with the installation.
What supplier did you buy the new gasket from? Sent from my Chromebook 11 Model 3180 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I’m thinking Mac’s as most of the rubber I bought during one of their promotional sales. I’m pretty sure I still have the packaging; I’ll take a look and report back.
I had horrible luck with windshield rubber from Mac's, but then used one from Carpenter and it went in like a dream. My car is a 32 but I bet they make them for 36's too.
Carpenter site says they don't sell for a 32 anymore Sent from my Chromebook 11 Model 3180 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have installed both Drake and Carpenter seals; both installed and fit OK. You may find WD40 helpful if you have trouble pushing the rubber into the groove.

Attached is the gasket I installed just a couple weeks ago. Again, I’ve heard horror stories regarding the gasket material from Mac’s, but I had ZERO problems with this gasket. I did notice that I purchased it in early 2017; amazing how time flies. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
