I tacked my steering box in. The pitman arm is centered and level. But the drag link is not as level to the tie rod as I would like it. I think distance is ok. But would I be ok with the drag link not a so level with the tie rod? I cant bring the box higher because of the motor mounts.
I’m working on the break, and the assembly I bought position the pedal too far right interrupting the room for a gas pedal. I showed a pic of my floor. So I cut down the widest part of the tube and welded it, took off about 1”.
I’ve gotten the breaks set up, install glass and mocked up the lake headers. Steering has been an issue but I’ll get to that later. Set up some 68 corvette seats, which are perfect for my height and chopped roof. The “dashboard” in the back had to be cut down for room. I’m making a longer cover up for the void, behind the seats. I’ll show pics later.

Excellent choice in seats !! I scored a set from a 71 vett for my coupe. How are you going to mount them? Directly to the floor or on a riser ? Are you doing anything about how far back the backs lean ?
Greetings Omar!...regarding your draglink relationship to your tie Rod I myself wouldn't be afraid of the minor difference, I have several beam axle/ cross steer vehicles with more draglink angle and I notice zero bumpsteer...
If you can't live with the drag link being not quite high enough, you could heat it and bend it slightly. And I'm glad you abandoned the idea of the gas tank hanging out behind the frame. To me, that's a invitation to get rear ended: especially if you have little to no rear bumper. 32 windshield looks good too. I'm not sure about the dash, Will that speedometer make you mount your column too low? It looks good though. Good luck!
I don’t think there is another big 3 car seat that sits low like corvette seats. Especially with the tracks. Because the track sit inside the seat. The floors on vette is raised to make up for how low they sit. I mounted mine with the tracks. My coupe had a dashboard that sticks out, I cut mine out so I can move it back more. Also the 68 seats have a lower back, and the locking mechanism is different so they don’t lean back as bad. You may have to cut out the dashboard I’m referring to for room.
man oh man good eye! My dash is being my biggest obstacle yet. My column is hangin low. To compensate I got a tilt column. Unfortunately the column is wider at the tilt (gm column)which hits right under the speedometer. Not too mention I have to get a mount that allows for the key rod(keyed column). I’m afraid my steering wheel options are limited as is my space. Which is another reason for vette seats and pushing it further back. All that being said, what gas tank works inside the trunk? What about fumes/smell? Can I use the 32 tank inside the trunk?
That beautiful little cluster looks wild in there... but its size may keep you from raising the column much... IMO... maybe use a '30-'31 roadster's inner half of the dashrail, it overlapping the new dash to tighten the dash to the windshield angle... should let you raise the dash a little... . I expect the same problem with my tall dashboard... '51-'52 Ford truck, luckily maybe I can cut and fill a radius into the dash at the column's angle... would buy me a little room... and I do have an inside half of a roadster's dashrail stashed just in case I need it... they are wider than the closed car dashes... will post a pic if you want... perhaps a quick release steering wheel mount … I will also have to mount the seat as low as possible and still retain the sliders... my $0.02.
That is luck you have room to modify your dash. I like the quick release steering wheels, had one in my 31 ford truck.
Here’s that panel I had too make. I should have rounded the ends more so the vinyl wouldn’t wrinkle but with seat it’s hardly noticeable.
After much search I found a mount for a key rod. The steering wheel is a mock up. But the size and dish work good. Maybe a bit bigger like 15inches and a differ style. I have plenty of leg room but a flat wheel might be too far back. I cant bring my seat closer because of the floor hump. Tho my adjustment works. The original tank and mount is there. I just cut the mount and welded a bar to bolt the new mount on. Thank god for the tilt.
Finally got all the steering set up. Turns freely, little drag on the tires since alignment isn’t set. Finishing the seats soon then the gas tank, thinking I may use a 32 tank it back. We’ll see.
Okay after mocking up the gas tank I’m having second thoughts. Looks ugly hanging low and sticking out. The 32 tank fits inside the truck and I see I can fab some brackets and mount it inside the trunk. My question is what safety issues should I Be considered with? Vent tube? I also plan on running my fuse box inside the trunk? Dosent that sound risky?
This is the idea. I can fab some brackets and attach it to the sides. And I can make a bar that goes horizontal to mount the battery tray. And mount the fuse box to the right of the battery tray, onto the bar. Looks reasonable?
IMO... don't go round tank as the gas gauge says they run out of gas very quickly... if no gauge, no worries...
Never heard that problem with round tanks befor. You think using the 32 tank inside the trunk is best?
IMO... I like an aluminum 12 gal tank... I have threaded bungs welded in... one 1/2" from the bottom... other 1.5" from the bottom.... with 2 ball valves and a TEE you can set up a reserve tank... sorry no pix... the tank set low and to the right because I let the rear window be up or down about 5"... [slot] . . Murray door handle, fence door latch... lift the handle, slide the bolt back, lowers the window 5"... .
