Well I guess they snuck this one by me then.

But something still doesn't look quite right to me though. The front half of the fenders and hood surface are kind of funky. The highlights and shadows lack the same detail as the main body of the car. And the more I study it the rear half of the quarter panels and the rear deck area are starting to look suspicious too.

Maybe an original photo of the show car had to be "touched up" to show some later or future modifications. But it looks like somebody in the art department got a little heavy-handed with the job.

1960 Lea Francis show car.

 

Lea-Francis sort of lingered on the edge of actual existence well into the '90s. The last ones were rather strange things:

 

A lot of strange things went on in the English car industry especially among the lower production makes. Some of outstanding merit and others of the what the hell were they thinking variety.

The purple Lea Francis is an example of the latter. I threw it into this thread for a laugh.

 

1932 Cord e1 v12 aluminum body, now lives at the ACD museum Auburn,Indiana

 

1932 Peerless v16. Another all aluminum monster including the frame and wheel's and more. Still alive and kicking at the Crawford museum in Cleveland ,Ohio.

Claymart is on to something. They are different cars. The silver car in the color photo has the roofline of the '66 Charger. The car in the B/W pic has a little thicker roof. It also appears to have a simple, possibly incomplete interior. I think it is a styling clay (no pun intended ).

 

A good friend and fellow HAMBer now in his 70s drew this car when he was in high school. He finally got around to building it and after a 27 year build finished it up last year. It's a hand built aluminum body. I was fortunate enough to go with him to pick it up from the upholsterer. It's a work of art and a dream come true for him.

The silver car in the color shot, yes. But like I said, they are two different cars.

French carmaker Facel-Vega built these 1955 models using Chrysler engines and drive trains. Even had the push button shifter on the dash. Looks very similar to the Chrysler Falcon prototype.
