#1 Pilot drill, #2 finish to size drill, #3 chamfer holes.

 

Painted the firewall. Rebuilt the carbs. Added an oil filler tube to the billet valley cover.

Astounding lines after the carefully planned chop!
This is 'dangerous'...I took a walk outside with a tape and some chalk...my '55 F100 'cringed'...I think...(I've had him since 1972, so when he cringes, I feel it!)
I relented, told him I wouldn't chop him...
Beautiful F100, and superb engine planning.
(I have a 312 in my shed, but some jerk stole my F600 Rams Horns and T-Bird valve covers. Not in a hurry to plant it in my F100)

 

gonna run all four or put in some progressive linkage...

 

did you make the motor mounts?

 

The yellow zink plated engine mounts [ red chassis picture ] were for the small block Chevy engine I originally had in the chassis. They are for sale.

 

Next I will be pie cutting the hood about 1 1/2".

 

The cold air induction [ covering the engine ] was for the SBC. It won't be used on the Y-Block engine.

 

Drove 6 hours to Pigeon Forge F100 Super Nationals 5-17-19. Arrived at 5.30 AM. Started to rain at 6 AM. Turned around and headed back home. As close to "lipstick red " as you can get. Keeping it all Ford it is 1978 Ford '" bright red'\"

 

5-17-19 I am planning on 1" high running boards tucked up tight under the doors but your side pipes is a great idea. I like it. The truck is for sale now. At 83 years old I just don't have the time to finish it. It needs to go to a shop with 6-10 employees to do it justice.

Any possibility of installing a chrome plated grille and headlights?
Would really make it a beautiful custom.

Another HAMB member says I should get rid of the ugly grille.

 

Ya I even pie cut the corners of the top a little bit to tip the sides in to lower the top portion even more. With a 5" chop the area above the drip rail is proportionally too high. On my 46 Chevy I removed 1" at the drip rail.

I have to say I am absolutely in love with this truck. Your attention to detail and skilled eye have designed and put together a one of a kind truck. I only wish I had the money to buy it form you to finish it. Someone is going to end up with a very unique and yet super subtle truck. Kids in college keep me from being that guy.
