Gary Reynolds, did you happen to post a black&white picture of a 1942 Chevrolet convertible with a few ladies sitting in it a couple years ago? I found the picture on instagram, did a google image search of it and it took me this thread sometime in 2017, however the images were since deleted.

Great detail shot! Thanks for posting, Rootie!

Could this be one of the Firestone Chrysler engine tire test cars?

It's Wolcott's #25 from 1953, a straight up 500A. IIRC, the Firestone car was a purpose built offset.

Love that head rest. You could buy them at Pep Boys, screw the brackets on to the back then slide them in clamping the height you wanted...

His "Honky Tonk Hardwood Floor" is one of my favorites. He's also in the Rockabilly hall of fame and was of course married Hanks widow.

Are you saying that Price told you a first hand account of Hanks condition the day he died? Because Price wasn't there and they hadn't seen each other since before Christmas. There were supposed to hook up NYD.

  18. This shot looks like it might have been taken in Australia. The car is a circa 1909-10 Talbot.

It's also not a pre '65 car but who cares. I wasn't even aware of the Mustang at first.

FYI, in those days you did not have to be rich to own a Corvette. Maybe just a decent job and the desire to own one. I and some of my friends had Corvettes similar to the ones shown. Like everything else these days, the good stuff is priced out of the reach of normal people. This is what is meant about how the standard of living has declined since those days. Houses, new cars, etc. priced out of reach of a normal person with a decent job.

It's easy to jump to conclusions and pidgeonhole people, especially without all the facts.
Most of us have done it at times, I remember pinning the "rich kid" tag on guys when I was in high school , sure we had a few of them but in truth; most guys with nice cars were working for them while the others were partying or just sitting on their asses.
