I don't do B&W pics, I don't think my camera has a setting for them. Most of them end up looking like fake patina anyway, fake. I've always prefered color, just like I see'em. B&W reminds me of what I always hated about print magazines, they usually had limited color pages, due to printing costs I'm sure, but I hated to see a pic of a nice car and have to wonder what color it actually was!

Not too long after they invented color LOL,but was too high $ for us in early 1960s. Mom's rule was always use up all the photos on the roll before taking it too be developed. By then some picks were two to 3 years old,LOL.

image.png By recent, is it when it was taken, or when I acquired it?

  10. Dana, I'm sure you and your buddy are enjoying a ice cold soda in that photo.

Is that Steve's model A or yours? With the Y block I assume it's yours. HRP

  11. Here is a picture of a picture.....that was taken at the Old North State Invitational last year. This is across the street from this wild old Shell station that was restored and the whole building is a Shell Oil shell. Had this one blown up and printed out to hang in my living room. That's @Hurley50 suburban poking in the side, @hotrodderhaag model a coupe Ron Barbarino's chopped Plymouth coupe a my roadster and Fox's model A sedan. this is the best show of the year. Cant wait for this year. this looks staged but it was all of us parked after we took pictures of our cars in front of the cool shell station. This is my favorite picture I have ever owned.

These were shot with a 100 year old Kodak Brownie,, 125 ASA 120 film from Amazon, developed in D-76 1-1. Then scanned on a flatbed scanner.

I like the softness of the film, compare these to converted digital shots above, the digital is almost too good

I was going to mention this, B&W isn't just the absence of color, it doesn't work that way. See: Adams, Ansel

I tried to wrap my head around Ansel's Zone System back in 74. He was way above this journalists eye.
He would wait for hours for the 'one' shot.
