Started working on the k member tonight. First picture is how I got it. Got the legs off and the center welded back together. Then I started cutting it to fit the frame. Ran out of welding gas so I’ll have to get back to it tomorrow.

Following this avidly, loving the look and style your going for.
Question: did you weld the roof chop from the inside or outside?

Thank you. The chop is welded from the outside.

You might want to try this guy for your spring in the rear. I used him a number of years ago for my reversed eye rear main leaf. Very nice guy and seriously knowledgeable. Plus, he's close to you (relatively). I drove up from Long Island to pick mine up at his facility.

My lid isn’t to terrible. Inside is in better shape than the outside. I think I’m going to just patch it. I appreciate it though.

Yes I know Matt. Good guy. I’ll be heading to pick up my spring this weekend I believe. Using his spring perches too.

Awesome build! Gonna keep an eye on this!.

My grandfather has a machine shop in Holyoke Mass back in the 30's. My understanding is that he converted an old water-wheel powered wood working shop into a diesel powered machine shop that still utilized the overhead pulley system. Of course that was long ago - I think the old shop is now a restaurant.

    Thanks!

Love hearing about stuff like that. Lots of cool old buildings in Holyoke that are now getting repurposed. We rent part of an old warehouse shop there for skateboarding.

So I got the k member cut up, tacked together, and fitted in the frame. Also started making motor mounts. They are not quite finished yet but I wanted to make them look like something that could be factory. More on those tomorrow. The new radiator also came in. Need to figure mounts for it.

Got the motor mounts finished up for the most part. There will be a spacer on top of the plate to get the motor where it needs to be. Just waiting on the wheels and tires to figure that out. I’m a little out of practice on my welding but it’s starting to come back.

I got the k legs carved out tonight. Going to head to my buddy’s shop tomorrow to make a pattern off the ends of his k legs as mine were gone.

So today I got got the car all put back together. Motor and trans all mounted up and I like the the stance with the oldyankeespeedco spring. Threw the hood on to see what it looked like. I think it’ll stay.

Back to doing more work on the body now. I got the original rumble lid fitted back on so I can patch it and working on the wheel wells. My headlight repair kit came in as well so I was able to get the 32 lights together. Shifter top also came in.

Got both headlights mocked up. Still need some tweaking on the stands. Also started working on the wheel wells finally since I’ve decided I won’t be stepping the frame up. Drivers side needs quite a bit of work still especially with the way that terrible corner patch panel lined up with the bead.

  23. Really love the look of your A! Makes me reconsider my plans for my future model A project. I’ve been planning it low, no hood, unchannelled, unchopped but yours at a less altered height, chopped, with the hood - killer!

I’ve been busy with customer cars but I’m back on it. The warm weather is giving me some motivation. I got the inner door welded in and then finished up the lower skin I was making.
