Anybody see the 40 Willys in the new Streetscene? What a great build! I can't remember if I've ever seen an original Willys built like that. Is the owner a HAMB member?
@rockable...........we are on the same page. It is way past time for someone to break ranks from the Willys Gasser chain gang and do something thoughtful with a Willys Coupe. There is one other that I have seen, but it was about ten years ago as I recall, in the display booth of Detroit Speed, from Mooresville, NC at the NSRA Nats. They are an excellent firm building superb products for a type of performance car but they are very OT for the HAMB era.
You should love this one then. https://www.google.com/search?q=lyn...i57.24651j0j8&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
Can anyone post pictures of it for those of us that haven’t seen it? Where is it from and what is the owners name? With that information I could look for it on the internet. Thanks,
Owner is Danny Blocker. Pictures are double pagers and won't scan as a whole image. Car is Marina Blue.
This is the same one. It was featured in Streetrod Magazine before. I don’t know why they call it a Chevy Willys unless they mean a Chevy powered Willys. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1304sr-1940-chevrolet-willys-coupe/
If you like that one you will like Ron Ladley (The Willys Mann) from PA. I believe he has passed away but his black Willys coupe was / is as close to factory original as one can get. Somebody will have pics I'm sure - I don't.
Here's a less than average commendable effort...Proper...that's a personal thing but I think it's quite stunning... https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1941-WILLYS-AMERICAR-CUSTOM-COUPE-161922 https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1941-willys-coupe-kustom/ Credit to Photographer, Owner
Proper was the title of the article in Streetscene. Thanks for the post of the green Willys. Beautiful!
...I've always thought this one stood out in the crowd... I always find those collectors from back in the day Ominous... A Deservedly Proud Crew Indeed... It is a survivor but not in the above livery http://www.jrthompson.net/gristbros1w.html https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...llys-build-updates-history-pics.400697/page-7 Credit to Photographer, Owner
I'm not sure you wanted to see Willys that were more Hotrod than race but heres another I stumbled onto... I believe this to be Hamber @modelkitbasher's Early 70s build but Hamb friendly in my opinion and proof Willys don't need hemis and full race gear to look awesome... http://classicvehicleslist.com/will...ewar-streetrod-california-car-1973-built.html Credit to Photographer, Owner
Wanted one badly in the early 90’s. Sure glad I didn’t find it. I would have turned it into a street rod and ruined it. It Would have been very embarrassing. Those things belong on the strip with a gasser attitude.
I have not seen that one, Bill....At the risk of committing heresy, the down in the weeds stance is still my favorite look for a Willys.
You have purchased this Willys Man?...or are you selling it...Awesome Hotrod it is...I hope your keeping it as it is...it really has that early 60s look as it is.
I like them all...Nose up...Nose in the weeds...and the stocker look...even front to back. It just an iconic design, I never get tired of seeing them. g-willys That is certainly good to know...Ron is a good man, and what he did to preserve Willys automobiles is unparalleled. I visited him many years ago...it was very special to see how he preserved those cars. g-willys
I own the 39 bought it a few years ago but I'd sale the car I dont discuss prices on such a rare piece publically.ive had it 5 years now. The Willys Man
Here is a couple picturesfrom Ron Ladleys collection. His '41 coupe, an immaculate 100 point restoration, showing the interior and trunk, with an excepional green coupe park next to it. Also that's Ron at the entrance to his polebarn leaning over a fender...like I said, a great guy. I hope he lives for a long while yet. g-willys
Back in the 60's somebody had a real nice 40 Willys street rod that I saw at Dragway 42 in West Salem Ohio. I have mentioned it before but nobody seems to have pics or know anything about it . It wasn't a race car, just a rod .
