I believe the front tires on the 41 Convertible are 560.15.

My Dad still has this 48 Sedan that my Grandpa bought in 1971. It’s not the same one that he had in 53 though! 9BF49234-5113-419F-9AC9-B176C4FEAE0A.jpeg

I think the knob might be for the vacuum wiper control, I might be wrong (and I have been wrong before), but I was wondering the same with mine. That's my best guess for the purpose of the knob. Hope this helps

Guys, you are correct - that knob is for the stock vacuum windshield wiper.

Heres my 47 fordor project and my first project of this kind. Its gonna be a slow learning process but im a couple weeks in and making headway.

That particular fender seemed like a good place to start learning how to dolly out body damage. I thinks its coming along ok.

Well im on a bit of a budget so im not going very pure. I picked up a tight s10 frame the other day thats going under. I also have a pretty tired 5.3 vortec with a 4l60e behind it sitting around and i do like the idea of modern fuel injection for convenience. I will probably end up with a 9" rear under it but i dont need to do that until that 5.3 sees a rebuild and performance parts. The 4l60 will need some love too. Thats all a long way down the road.

I hope to hold on to the stock frame and running gear in case i ever decide to go back and do things right but I may need to sell things to fund the project.

As far as custome work goes, I plan to shave it mostly clean and build roll pans. No chop but i want it sitting low as idaho roads will allow on static suspension. Im pretty conflicted on a couple of things; namely door hinges and headlights. I really hate the support hinges that are exterior but the rear door set doesnt have enough room between the rear quarter window and the door jamb for a simple flush hinge. Gonna have to get creative there.

I damaged the stock passenger headlamp glass and assembly when i was moving things and its got me motivated to get creative there. I dont have any real plans on that front.

The whole thing is of course coming down to bare metal inside and out. Sand blasting is gonna happen in about 2 weeks. We will find out just how much cancer is there after that. Im crossing my fingers and hoping that its just the one door skin and a piece of the floor pan that i know about.

Paint and interior are just a distant thought and im not gonna think about that for a while.

    Thats my rough plan...
    Cheers!

You don't need to build the rear roll pan. The early 46's that had a toolbox in the back had a beautiful full roll pan under the bumper. Just make sure you make a stone guard for it

Thats a good thought and ill look into it. Just how easy is it to find that part though? My time is pretty cheap these days and rare parts are spendy. /shrug
