Hot Rods 1934 Ford sedan into a coupe

Did you build the panel above the deck lid? If you did, how did you make the big body line below the window?

 

Loving everything about this. Workmanship looks great.

I would also like to know this. I was doing a '33 5W conversion from a 4 door and what I ended up with in that area wasn't exactly like factory. For my '34 I've got a chunk of the back of a 36 Tudor hump-back which I was told made a good replacement body line for under the rear window but if there's a better way I'd love to know how to approach it.

Now that is the real trick. Right or wrong on the first one, I always find it even harder to repeat it in reverse. Love the build!

 

I’m not sure. My boy wants me to chop it. Depends on how it looks when I am finished with the other side. If it doesn’t turn out right I may chop it.

I bought it. If I had it to do over I would have made it. The quality on this one is terrible. When I got it I just about stuck it back in the box and sent it back (especially as much as it cost). But I started tweaking and hammering on it by then I was committed to it. Mistake. It’s crap! Here is a pic that shows the body line. Just one of the things wrong with it. I could pry accept it better if it was $50 or $100. But I think it was $350 if I remember right.

I got a little time this weekend to work on the coupe. Can I call it a coupe? I think it fits the description.
Anyway, As always I have been side tracked on other things. So I decided this rainy memorial weekend I was going to put some time in on this. I didn’t take a lot of pictures as the process was the same as the first side. But here it is. Still needs some planishing to smooth over the seams. But overall I am happy with how it turned out. Now to get it welded up and tend to a few small details and fun part can begin!

Last year was crazy. Didn’t get as much done as I had planned. But starting to get back into it. Lots of busy work and loose ends to tie up.

The quarter panels didn’t have have the “crows foot” stamped in the wheel house. I thought about forming it in before I welded the quarters to the car. For what ever reason I talked myself out of doing that. I have regretted that decision so I devised a way to stamp them on the car. It was a bunch of work but I am happy with how it turned out.

 

Could you share how you managed to make it look so good and original?

I was facing the same thoughts on my coupe with SAR quarters but 33's didn't have them and most or my car is done as a 33 anyway so I left them as-is.
