I was just reading an article from last January in Autoweek that mentioned him. Made me nostalgic.

Tune up kit means different things to different folks. Try looking for Ford B12199 contacts (Standard FD51); Ford B12300 condenser (Standard FD55). These pop up from time to time. Auto advance bits not so easy, but a good distributor man should be able to make it work correctly. Pretty much the rest of the distributor is same as A model.

    Hi Banger Fans -

My first post here. Been enjoying following along the banger meets off and on for a while as I start my banger education. So my first question - I picked up these two B heads this past weekend. I hadn't seen a head with the stamping on the front like the head on the left in the pic. Can someone tell me what the stamping indicates?

    Thanks, Matt

Definitely a B head the raised 'C' and v8 water pump.most likely a service casting..whats interesting is the date code..the A service head I have has L286,which translates to L= December, the 28 is the day and the 6 means 1936.,yours appears to be I68,which would be september 6th 1938.Later heads made for service tend to be better heads than production heads, the 'A' I have is clearly a better one than production, its beefier..B head 4.6 to 1,meh for performance

  24. Interesting piece., I've not seen one before.
Is that a crack running up from the top right corner of the rectangle?

I don't believe it is a crack. Looks like a casting "seam" or line.
