  7. Man do I remember places like this, they existed through the mid 70's in lots of cases.
When I first moved to SoCal in the 80's, there were remains of this kind of places on the 99 and the 14, now all gone. Oregon had TONS of old places on the way to the coast, the coast itself and going WAY back in eastern Oregon in the desert. All gone now.

The reason I post race car pics here instead of the drag cars in motion thread is because I want people to SEE them.
This thread has, BY FAR, the biggest viewership. History is important (in my view).

I thought that's who that was. Larry's father was a race driver who was killed in a track roadster at Kokomo, Indiana. His brother Ron Burton became a well known racing artist who at one time was under contract to Miller Brewing to do exclusive paintings of their sponsored Indy, stock, and drag cars. Ron also worked as a crew member for many drivers including A.J. Foyt.

One of my aunts had a THAT GREEN 53 Chevy. Do you remember the color? Seemed like all Chevies were that color.

A great looking roadster pick-up, Gary, but given that the owner drives it on the street, I think I would have gone for front wheel brakes, what do you think?

  20. Yes. I'd run brakes today, but probably not in 1964.

I'll bet that old Cadillac towing that huge U-Haul has a clamp on bumper hitch they rented from U-Haul to tow that trailer.
Clamp on bumper hitches were real common as well as clamp on tow bars.
Not many family cars could tow a trailer like that today

Don't have clue as the numbers, but 63 was the last year of the big window option, 64 cabs were much different.

  26. I wasn't aware of a big window option in anything other than the 61-63 unibodies. The 61-66 cabs of the other styles remained mostly unchanged through the years. The beds were really only thing that significantly changed in 64.
