Looks radical enough to be a Mickey Thompson effort. Any idea what results it got? Does it have a name?

  8. Beechcraft Plainsman.
    The Beechcraft Plainsman
Was a car made in 1946 by the Beech Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. The Plainsman was fitted with an air cooled four cylinder Franklin engine driving a generator, which in turn powered four electric motors, one for each wheel. It was fitted with fully independent air suspension. It also had an aluminum body. It weighed 1000kg, its top speed was claimed at 160 mph and 30mpg, and could carry six passengers. Only two were built.

160 mph ??? not with me in it!

  10. Nope, just that it handled poorly, otherwise all I know is that the pics came from Hot Rod Magazine.

  11. UPDATE!
Not surprisingly, it was built by the stubborn Scotty Fenn.
Fenn FIRMLY believed that a cars wheelbase should be equal to the slick's diameter. He insisted longer cars didn't "work", said the shorter the better. Like 80 inches ( or less ) for a AA/FD.
It belonged to the GREAT team of Cyr and Hopper', who tried it out at Bako, it would not go even remotely straight and was "retired" after the MM.
