Looking great! You were fortunate to start with such a solid body. Heads up; Heavy chop on a Model 40 5/w Coupe=lots off work in the quarter windows to keep the rounded openings "round" and not egg shaped with hard corners.
Just need to make the little piece that's missing almost got it Sent from my SM-N960U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Ha! My '36 Three window was going to be chopped 4-1/2". Ambitious first project ended up 5-1/4" in front, 6" in back, I was 13. Older mentor taught me to oxy-acet weld on that car, Mom wasn't pleased with the outcome..."Oh, WHY did you cut it down so lowww...?" Me: "Heck, Mom...So they could tell it's 'Chopped'!" Turned out, BUT: After I did my door tops, I could see what she meant. Looked like a WWl French tank.
A little more progress wish I had more time to work on it Sent from my SM-N960U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
love where this is going I hope you don't mind but I put a link to this thread in the build thread index here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/build-thread-index.651453/
YES! There are 10,000 ways to chop a 33-34 top and my body man used a little different method at the back to escape doing all that cutting/welding at the sail panel....Not saying your method is wrong...just that we did it differently.
