I wanted to try chopping & creating an early 50,s traditional build. What i had in mind was to replicate a model that cousins had built around 62. I was around 4 & my aunt Ruth would let me play it when she would baby sit me... I was told to be very careful with it as i know it didnt roll. Well this journey starts off in Jan 2014 as a purchase off Leebay which i thought was a good candidate - The add said roof not perfect , has a dent in it so i said cool i wont be chopping a survivor. Well upon receiving it to my surprise the car was really damaged a beam in the barn had fell on it crushing the roof about 3 - 4 inches, kink the 1/4s. & twisted the frame. To find out the car was laid up since 1951 as it was vandalized with almost 300 pellet dents shooting out everything glass in the car. This is kinda back yard build hope someone could use some of the info provided.

There was a barn collapse in Pennsylvania recently and I'm wondering if that might have been one of the salvaged 30 or so vehicles that came out of it?

Good luck with the Hotrod project any pics of your childhood inspiration you spoke of?...we love historic pics of any hotrods you can find...;)

You can see by the lean to the drivers side the twist in the frame from the barn beam collapsing many years ago. 1056892_10201422442832101_499273362_n.jpg

1781695_10201501404966105_642072455_n.jpg Always a treasure hunt when you get something old lol . Found the original 30 California plate , 1936 penny and a good hand full of Black power bullets through out the car --also many bird bones im from a pack rat stuffed in the back of the seat. Notice the cool blue lens someone made , i guessing to have a Blue Dot effect--- Also the last plate when laid up 1951 Minnesota 1615009_10201429721734069_2101328835_n.jpg 1616432_10201501403286063_285922302_n.jpg

1743187_10201501408606196_1777896749_n.jpg The Coupe was originally a California Car built in San Francisco. The original owner was a lady who had transplanted to Minnesota around mid 30,s. The car had dual spares, luggage rack, and a trailer hitch, maybe some Black smith made ? Look like she was ready for traveling long distances. I Purchased the car from her niece that inherited the farm. She said it was in the last of 5 barns - the one that had fell down. She didnt even know there was a car in it . Even though the car didnt match the description couldnt get mad at her as she didnt know much about it. It always a gamble anyway when you buy something site unseen...

Oh did i mention about 300 pellets dents too ! Lol headlights, windows ,dash , mirror everything glass was shot out EXCEPT that Blue tail light lens survived. A lot of the dents were around the stepped mouldings around the window openings -- man what a bad shot at that... like a mini Bonnie and Clyde car. That is what lead to laying the car up after the vandals got to it in 51.

1624391_10201456576165413_556941163_n.jpg Well it took from Dec 13th to mid Jan 2014 to get it home from Minnesota ,as the car got snowed in next day after purchasing it and 3 different transporters couldnt get it. Finally got it home to the South & a week later we got snow !!! rare for down here -Just my luck lol

Thx Stogy- yeah it was out of minn. think it was the only car on the farm besides a few tractors- the girl had the property for a few years and never realized the car was in there - was kinda buried in

Glad it got another chance at rolling down the road in your hands...I gathered after you clarified its location of purchase...the barn collapse I was referring too was late last year in Penna and it was in a thread here and there was lots of crushed but salvageable stuff including an A Coupe.
