    So Cals aren't scallops...just two-tone paint...

I remember a photo in early '90's RnC of "Rocketeer" creator Dave Stephens's GeeBee scalloped '40. It worked good in b/w pic, does anyone have a color of this car?

A two tone paint job utilizing a scallop pattern.

  5. I tend to prefer closer to the aviation style. Big , Clean, Simple. To far the other way and I start to have Van Halen 80's flashbacks.

  6. This was a great car with a 500Cad good looking scallops and ran at the lakes.
Chuck Edwall's 1938 Ford five window coupe, he came out to my house in his car in 2000 to buy a Tom Beatty built swing arm banjo rearend, I was surprised he just tossed all those old parts in the trunk of his car, like it was a pickup truck.
Chuck told me he was building a new car from all old famous people car parts, that's why he wanted the Tom Beatty rearend. Do you know about that car?
I hope all is well with him and his family, John [email protected]

I agree. Short and fat...not long and skinny.
    Most important, imo...no straight lines!
That's the most common "mistake" I see.

  19. Chuck sold the 1938 and now has a 356 speedster and 56 Olds hardtop the last time I talked to him which was about 1 year ago.

  29. I have a love hate relationship with mine. When I painted the car 25 years ago, I liked them. Sometimes I wish it didn't have them, other times I wish they didn't curve. But they're there, and will stay. I guess having the same car for so long without many changes, gives you time to rethink it. It was in the August 95 Street Rod Action magazine with different interior, and without the side draft carbs. I think they shot the feature in August 94.
