I ordered a set of rear tires the other day so soon it should be up and rolling after I get my wheels blasted and painted.

 

Ready to see it as a roller.

Yes, tonight after work.
We have a super dry climate in The Black Hills during the winter so I could leave them but I already have my primer ready.

 

Man i love this stuff. While priming my wide fives i notice a date stamped in the rim. 4-19-37 and the other 5-7-36!
Its like doing detective work, a guy finds out what he has. I dont know if Im weird but seeing these dates really turns my crank.

 

Not to mention the Ford script stamped in there also.

 

Yeah, you're weird, but most here are I'd guess. I know that sort of thing gets me all geeked up.

Ha ha, well I'm good with being a little off!

 

Picked up paint for the wheels. Indian motorcycle fallon brown.

 

You do like Indian cycle colors, don't you?

Maybe you could pick up an extra set of wheels, paint them this color for your 32, and change up wheels occasionally.

 

I do like the vintage Indian colors.
Yes, another set for the 32. I already have my red steels and my halibrand look a likes.
I have a very nice set of 40 ford 5 x5 1/2 drums so I could switch drums and maybe get a set of spokes for the single seater.

 

What a chore, i had to replace five broken and missing wheel studs. Half the battle was finding the right ones. Front drum studs are a bit long but i gueass i can cut them down.

What studs did you end up using?

 

They were dorman. I will have to look at my sales recite and get the part numbers fronts are different from back.

 

I have my drums painted . Ordered wheel bearing and seals from the early Ford store in San Dimas. I called my order in by phone and want to say it was a great call, friendly, knowledgeable folks there.

 

Those guys are great. Bought a '32 drag link, and a 32' tie rod from them. Shipped both to my favorite HAMB polisher in Medford, Oregon too .... for further polishing terrors.

 

Being self employed i was in between jobs today. The weather is in the thirtys and dry so I pulled the body off and blasted it with by little gravity feed pot blaster. One color of metal now instead of my patchwork quilt of a body!

very cool build, I love the craftsmanship and attention to detail you put into your work. I built a champ style inspired one just to see if I could a few years back, but I cheated and used a fg nose and rear tail and fab'd the rest, kinda makes me want to try it again.

 

Very kool little car you built there. I,m going for what a local person in my neck of the woods would have built in the late 40,s scavenging junk yards and the back forty fence line on the ranch.

Thanks, I did my 1940's "champ car" project as a warm up to a barn find "pre-war" midget racer restoration (and because I wanted to fit into it), to see if I could do something from scratch. I completed the champ car but had no where to run it so I showed it a few times at local car shows. It really sucked because at that time Mel had not started the TROG event yet (perfect to run on the sand with it). I ended up selling the champ car to a guy in NY who proceeded to get ink (locally in NY) telling everyone he built the car and used my personnel build pics that went with the car as his proof! I like the way your doing your build, keep it up!

 

I brought some scrap wood home from work today thinking i could use it to make a jig to hold my wheels so i can squirt some paint on them. I think this shoud work pretty good.
