Back in the day Western Auto and Pep Boys had the Hollywood licence plate bracket. This is what all the Southern California folks put on their High Boys. Turns out that the 50's and some 60's Airstream trailers used this plate bracket. Well naturally there are folks that are as passionate about restoring Airstreams as we are about old hot rods. So here is a new source for the Hollywood bracket http://airstreamsupply.com/new-licen...light-141-9457 And this how mine turned out on my almost on the road 32 High Boy
Looks great. I too like the teardrop tail lights but like the Ford ones just a bit more. I pretty much flipped a coin
The VW aftermarket shops have them too. New ones on ebay for about $25.00 Search empi 9457. I have one on one of my cars. Pretty nice.
You can get them at NAPA. I bought one there about 10 years ago, but the chrome was not what I'd call show quality. But maybe the current ones are better?
Teardrop tail-lights are '39 Ford. Many used on Deuces are '48 Chevrolets. Round ones are Pontiac. A '46-'48 Ford Tail-light is nothing special, and on the cars they were used on look like an afterthought.
I had one, but sold it without using it - the chrome was terrible. Bought a stainless one from Bob Drake's and the quality & looks are great. A little more money, but you get what you pauy for......if you're lucky !!
You know, this might sound stupid, but I think it looks just a bit to new/late model for a Deuce. Certainly not on an Model A. I'm thinking late thirties might be a better place to start using them. JMHO,though.
Bob Drakes, Same here, then got taken again when I got the plate frame that they sell that is compatible with the lamp. Only sells them in pairs too
I've still got the one that I loaned my buddy in 1975 when he needed one to put on his 27 T that had the back end of 55 Chevy on it for a turtle deck when he went to the NSRA nationals with it. he pulled it off when he got back and put something else on when he had time to hunt something down. It will go on something someday.
I had the other end tied to other side of frame. I have an electric hoist on an I beam and I can lift the back of the car off the ground to put jack stands under. Easier than a jack
Made this one for my 40. Lays a little tighter to the trunk, I kept the drawings if anyone needs them.
I have one of these on mine too. It's coated, but not chrome. Zinc? Nickle plate? What's yours? It was less than $35
Its only money, you can't take it with you. That's $50 CDN On the other hand I got some stainless and could spend all day making one if I could buy the light separately.
