Any guesses on the body? I was told maybe a cabriolet?? I think maybe a sports coupe? How could you tell the difference? I know the doors have been chopped but is thete any way to tell?
But then it could also be a standard coupe. Not? The different tops get attached to what you have there. Logic would say that a standard top would still be on it and the business, or leather back and sport coupe rotted away and that is what is left. Neal
'28-'30 cabbie header would have pins to anchor the top... '29 cabbie had '30-'31 beltlines... '29 coupe, sport coupe and special coupe all started with what you have... what is the plan ? pic of a '29 sportie come cabbie from '015...
Notice the trunk lid? Sport Coupe was a rumble seat car. Easy to change. So many repop lids are wrong profile. No need to chop Cabriolet doors. Could be worse. Good Luck: Fred A
Could it be made into a coupe? I was thinking of just using roadster doors and chopping it down but if a coupe is possible?
Officially no. Cutting the top off makes it a coupster. Coupsters and roadsters are different. Coupster has shorter panel behind the seat, different cowl, quarter panel, and doors. The options that I see are any of the three options of coupes that Henry offered or a coupster. The sport coupe and business coupe tops are around where people take them off and make a coupster. The standard coupe roofs can be found, but not a easily. I bought one back ten years or so. The business coupe is also called special coupe.. The top was built on a wood frame with sheet metal nailed to it. Then covered with vinyl/leather. Neal
True, the Sport Coupe, 50-A came with rumble only. Business Coupe, 54-A, was available with a trunk only. 1928 roof quarters had no window and in 1929 it came out with the oval window in the quarters. Do you have any of the interior "irons" for the rear quarter portion of the roof? That will tell you more.
Package tray, should attach to wood on rear and sides behind seat. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I use the package tray but I mount it lower, still handy but lets the seat slide back a little further... yes I was a puck pusher ! … the vertical slot is for a 4" lowering of the rear window. .
