Last night I rattle canned 3 coats of paint on my Model A's Firewall and was wondering if I should also put a coat or two of rattle can clear coat? Thanks.
While the recessed portion of my A's modified firewall is stainless steel, the surrounding areas ar clear coated of the paint. It has worked well, with no issues with heat. I'd clear coat your firewall.
My opinion is that you took the time to paint your firewall to enhance tge look of your car and shiwcase your engine, so why not add the final finishing touch of clear coating it. I always detail my firewalls and inner fenders when building my cars. Many say, "who really cares if it's done?" - to which I counter, "I care." Like I said, just my opinion and personal preference.
Rattle bomb? Nyet This stuff? Da. Hardened enamel high gloss clear. Watch it over 80 degrees, as it can run if you lay it on. I have used this over many repairs and wet sand/polish aver the top. Next best thing to spraying it out of a gun without the clean up. Short shelf like, once you puncture it, less than an hour.
I've never had much luck with rattle can clear. Doesn't really affect the looks much. I have had good results with clear enamel auto paint over rattle can though.
