Hey M,

Kudos to your wife on LBCC nursing program. We knew many girls that went to that division at LBCC. It was not an easy program by any means. But, some got their degree and became nurses immediately. A few others went on to get their advanced degrees elsewhere. I was not a nursing major, but was in a series of classes that had several nursing students in them. (Of course, English, plus Sociology, Psychology, Human Anatomy, and Physiology.)

The Human Anatomy class was not for the squeamish. The back trunk area of my 58 Impala was not going to work for this assignment in this class. (A nursing student and another girl I knew were in my Anatomy “lab” class, as partners.) We had a big final project to finish and I volunteered the extra hours and space for our lab work.

So, I used the empty cavern of the 40 Ford Sedan Delivery to transport our class project back and forth to my Westside Long Beach house. (9 miles one way) By this time, the backyard hot rod garage was now fairly normal with some tables and chairs for experiments and such. My mom was impressed that two girls came over for a week long study session and project.

Hurray! for the odd smells coming from the Flathead motor and the general smell of an old car that was very “airy.” Formaldehyde leaves a lasting impression. But, we all got an “A” grade for the final project and test.
