@Felix 40 are your running the stock transmission and rear end in that car? What gear ratio are you using and how is the cruising speed?

@Felix 40 that's good to know. My new 40 is bone stock. I was going to warm up the flathead with headers, intake and possibly milling the heads and install a set of 3.54 gears in the hopes that I could cruise at 65. Sounds like that may be do able. Alternatively I may just stuff a 283 in it. I can't decide.

I have 3:54 gears in my 40 with a very warmed over flathead. I can do 80-85mph all day with more pedal to go. 3:54’s with a tall tire is the way to go

Planning on a 283 with 3.54 rear end gears, 15” Merc wheels, dual exhaust and F1 brakes. I’ll start a build thread once it gets into the shop but it’s a total stocker for now. Just sitting around digging on this one from earlier in the thread. Great stance @Jim Bouchard any info on how you got it that low.

    Yeah, thanks for the interest.

My Dad and I have ALWAYS had low cars that sit right.

This one has a MM2 from Fat Man with his “low” front cross member. We raised the engine and trans 2” for extra clearance. The rear set up is a SAC (Specialized Auto Components) parallel leaf set up that was modified. Instead of mounting the front spring hangers to the bottom of the frame, we fabricated pockets for them to mount to. That made the bottom of frame and the bottom of the spring eye even, keeping nothing hanging below the frame.

The wheels were from “Solids” and they were 8” with 4” back space.

The tires were BF Goodrich and I think they were 255/60/15
I’m not entirely sure on the tire size. We don’t own the car anymore and I just don’t remember.

I was so pleased that the owner parked the Bouchard 40 close to mine at Lville. I had admired it for some time. I had hoped to meet him but never did. Been a 40 sedan guy for a long time, anxious to get back to work on my sedan project.
