So what's the criteria for small block? A Studabaker never got bigger than 289 but weighed 25 lbs more than a 500 Cadillac.

An easy visual determiner... small blocks typically have center exhaust ports next to each other while big blocks have exhaust manifold ports evenly spaced... :) cp 925.JPG

It should be block deck height. Oh, I'd say 9.6 should be the cutoff point.

Good point, I stand corrected... Fords are evenly spaced. I should have probably thought this through a bit more. My visual comment was referring to period correct GM motors, and even then there may be exceptions to the rule that I didn't think of.

Yes... this Caddy is a small block and yes they are among the heaviest GM small blocks. Who cares, it's COOL!

    327 for a 62 Corvette. Looks like a 300hp on the outside, but the inside says it's a 340hp. IMG_20181209_130355.jpeg IMG_20181209_130322.jpeg IMG_20181103_194717.jpeg

I keep seeing early Olds and Cadillac as small blocks they are wider and heaver than a 454.

  20. I think that it is because of their relatively small displacement more than their physical size.

Nothing special. Just mundane stuff in my impalas. Numbers matching block in the convertible with long tube headers and stainless exhaust. 20181121_191619.jpg 20181121_191619.jpg 20181007_161439.jpg

The 305 i got from a guys alley he was gonna scrap. Originally a 82 crossfire. These engines have the HO cam and good heads with flat top pistons. I put a new timing chain in and some gaskets. No smoke and has good oil psi. Its now in my 64 until i get the 327 done. I beat the piss out of it and run it 3k on the interstate. FB_IMG_1547086689477.jpg FB_IMG_1547086898800.jpg
