Yes a bit harsh. But, then again, we don't need as much room for our egos downunder. :D

It looks like someone tried to put a regular 32 back together without any instructions.......

The Ridler winner in 1982 built by John Pappert. The only Ridler
winner from outside the U.S. (Canada). I bought it in neglected condition and drove it/restored it for 7 years. Registered as 1934 Model Y. For a time, Gibbon Fiberglass in Gibbon, NE repro'd it.

By the mean diameter of that steering mast jacket, one would ride that 'English Style'.

Apparently they got the jump on the '33 styling. was the grille shell still vertical on the sedans for '32 like a domestic Ford?

I’ve never never seen one with a vertical grille.
Original photo in post one has a typical ‘33/‘34 grille.
I thought that the body style had no changes from 1932 - 1937, others may know more.

The ones we had, as I remember, were called 1935, 1936, 1937, ford model Y, but that was probably due to the fact that by the time that they came out from England on a boat and got registered it was probably 1935. I suspect that the English domestic market was satisfied first, before New Zealand got the ‘leftovers’.

Hot rodding potential right there in junior cabriolet and pickup.....

The proportions are just wrong on the 3 window, the sedan looks pretty cool. HRP

Agreed, the proportions on the 3 window are off a bit, but the others have some appeal to them. I wouldn't mind hot rodding any of them to tell the truth!

I noticed that there are not many hood louvres on the 4cyl Model Y, - probably not the same overheating problems as it’s V8 cousin........

Gibbon Fiberglass build a few model Y 3 window coupes. They were the English size but looked like the US version. I’ve seen a few completed.

Okay, Clem I get it. Thanks for straightening me out. I'll have to admit I assumed wrong. That Y coupe is an interesting machine.

Gibbon Fiberglass in Nebraska worked on that idea I don’t remember if it was completed. Dwight Bond was the mans name. I havre pictures of the steel car that was used for the molds and I think that was the early 80’s

    Ten-minute Photoshop:
    Model Y 3W edited.jpg
Corrected the distortion due to the hand-held pic of a book page; stretched the roof and door a bit; levelled out the door top. The proportions are suddenly miles better, which isn't the same thing as looking exactly like a Deuce 3W.

I do not know the backstory of how it got here, but there is at least one in the US !

I attended a weekly cruise-in type event in Mocksville NC this past summer, and there was one. I didn’t see the owner, but there was a couple page document on display explaining the car.

Ford Australia also produced regular sized ones as well.

The only flaw in the design of the Model Y 3 Window Coupe is in the door. It needs to be lengthened about 5 or 6 inches and the B Pillar needs to be raked to the same angle as a 33 3 Window Coupe.

    An equally attractive offering:

It looks like it would make a good amphibious vehicle.

  26. A slightly stretched 5 window version of the Y Ford would have been more appealing. HRP

My grandfather bought a new 1934 model Y, maroon with black fenders.
He drove it until 1957 and then put it in a barn, instead of the junkyard.
It is still in the family, not running since 1957........
