Happy new year! Got the 15’s mounted on the rear, still figuring out if I want to run 6.70 whitewalls or 5.00 dirt track tires on the front.

Parts to rebuild my model b distributor should be here soon.

G'day folks, been over 100 here since Christmas so like seeing the white stuff over there.
Time to get my Pickup and my sister's Ute going, that's our NY reso.
Love this place, so will keep in touch more this year too.

Check'n in! I'd like to race at AAA Speedway (Fontana)the 17th to 20th of this month; but so far it dosen't look like we'll get 'nuf "Playmates" to have a Group Race)! We have five. We need twelve!

After a brake failure on my ole 56 pickup, and getting it repaired etc I am back on track to start working on the Coupe again, thinking of pulling the axles and going through everything piece by piece. Aiming to be ready for hotrod hill climb this year, may not drive it all the way from houston but I plan to take it, need a working E brake before going to colorado for sure. Happy New year folks....

 

Pulling out an old topic, I know. But living across the pond, and keeping stock G28T cam, is it still doable to use A lifters, without damaging cam/lifters/anything else?

the issue comes down to the lobe of the cam as it makes contact with the lifter.
while the initial ramp on the lobe makes contact with the lifter, you have to make sure that the contact area stays on the face of the lifter (in other words the lobe contact does not touch the edge of the lifter). You can check this by using some paint or colored ink on the face of the lifter and then rotating cam over the lobe. the ink or paint should show the contact on the face, and how far away from the edge you are. I have some closer than 1mm from the edge but those motors only last a short time before regrinding cam and lifters. for example, I made only one good pass down course this year before killing the valves and seats.

I was looking over the Antiquated forum and looking at the Tether cars, was that you on the center point at Whittier Narrows? I haven't seen that place in many years, it looks really good and the cars even cooler.

Did think of something like this myself, but if someone knew, I didn’t want to waste half an afternoons work- by checking out my actual setup, I’ll be sure, what I got.
If I just had a tube of marker blue... guess I’ll try with a white board marker... to be continued!

Yes, it is something I used to do a lot. I loved building and modifying them, but like most forms of organized competitions, the politics and assholes drove me away.

Quick question for all my timing gurus out there.

I have the B distributor in this bone stock A engine. What I thought was a B timing cover, turned out to be a 33-34.

Is there any way I can time it without using a timing tab, or that cover?

 

B timing is advanced 10 degrees vs A timing, IIRC. Initially time it on the B cover, mark the front pully there, and then measure forward 10 degrees and make the A timing mark. Or start it at the 10* advance, and then retard it by ear...

Oops, wait: what is the difference between a B cover and 33-34??
