Hot Rods If you could get back a car you sold what would it be

I should have kept my 1972 Aussie Valiant Charger E38.
My particular car recently changed hands for $200K which is a lot more than what I sold it for [ when I was young and stupid ]

 

I had to sell my 34 Plymouth Hot Rod in 2012 or so to refurbish my house... I think I would buy it back if I had the chance. I put about 100k miles on that car in ten years ... Lots of memories....

 

I can relate to that. In my case it was HK GTS 327s. Took a E38 for a test drive once at Bill Patterson Motors in Ringwood . Salesman thought i stayed away to long . There were a few fly by night traders in the Eastern suburbs ( not BPM ) with second hand musclecars at reasonable prices ( for then ). Allways fun taking a test drive.

 

I should have kept the 1930 Amilcar and the 1934 Delahaye coupe. This was in 1980. Fancy French stuff, live and learn in the old car hobby.

 

I would have to say my '67 400, 4 speed Firebird coupe, bought from the original owner.
Drove it my senior year of high school and first year of college, sold it to pay for my second year of college...…….

I would want my OT Buick back. Sold her for $300 after I sent a CV axle through the front fender in the parking lot at my old high school.

 

In the early 80's I had a 56 Chevy 210 2 door hardtop for about 3 years. I sold it to buy a 1970 Chevelle. I wish I had both of those back.

 

This thread is great therapy for me. You can't see the future, and who would have guessed that so many great cars would be unobtainable now. Thanks to you all.

 

I can think of several for sure. I sold a 68 Z28 in a weak moment and it was a fun car that I wish I could drive occasionally. If it was a bad sale I wish I could undo it would be my 36 Lancia which I sold for peanuts and recently sold for over 2 million. But for sure driving pleasure it would be my 37 V12 Packard rumble seat coupe I sold when I needed money. A really cool car.

Here is the Lancia at Pebble Beach a few years ago that a friend of mine took to rub it in. It was payback as he used to own several old Ferraris and I rubbed in his sale prices a couple of times

My first build. This was the day I sold it with a bad motor. I wish I had a picture of the front end nosed frenched headlights and molded in 55 ford grill. The guy that bought it was going to put a 421 Lincoln in it but I never saw it again.

 

I don't what I was thinking.

Just 2, no pix readily available, may have one of the Nova. The first was a '67 Chevelle SS396 roller that I bought on a Friday night, less the engine. Had the 4-speed, ladder bars, some sort of posi rear. By Monday night it was sold for a profit and it was a really clean car. The second and last was my '66 Nova SS, 301 engine, Saginaw 4-speed, traction bars, narrowed 9" Cougar rear. That got parted out when I first got married in 1976. 301 went into my '65 C30, shell and 4-speed were sold separately.

When I got married (1967), I had a 57 Nomad. Went into the Navy and we drove it back and forth from New Jersey and PA four trips. Was stationed at FWC Pearl and sold it ($650) so my wife and child could fly to Hawaii.

 

I just built another v8 Pinto, third one Ive done.

 

My i wish i had it back was a 41 Willy’s coupe gasser i raced back in the early 70s.

 

After almost 50 years of buying and selling my list could get pretty long . But I guess the one that haunts my dreams most would be my first. Nothing special , just a 1967 Mercury Montclaire 2 dr hardtop that my folks bought me in 1971 when I was 16. Not the car I wanted and it was light green with a green interior that looked like my Grandmothers curtains! lol But she did have a 390, 4 barrel, and a posi 9 inch. A dual exhaust kit, and 390 gears made her a sweet sleeper. My dreams are the if I had the tools, shop, and knowledge that I have now, how kool she could have been in triple black! She met her fate in 1974 when I sold her to a friend when I bought a brand new 454 4spd Laguna S3 { another wish I had her back!} and he wrapped her around a pole. I miss my 1966 Ford F-100. It had an FE, was told it was a 390, I was a 16 year old kid and didn’t know any better. It had a 3 Speed with a shity worn out Hurst Indy floor shift. It wasn’t much, but it was mine and I sold it at Mom and Dads suggestion and bought a 1966 Bronco. One day I will have another and be able to finish it the way I want. I didn’t have the money in high school.

Mine would be a 1962 Chevy 2 and a 1931 Ford highboy. Lots of vintage parts I wish I had kept hanging on the walls or shelf.

 

Sounded like a good idea at the time (made our move a lot easier financially), but......... I know, another 64 Coupe! These two, the Wife and myself drove from Upstate N.Y., to Baltimore to visit my Bro n law, to Clarksville, Tn. to visit my Mother in law and then to Bowling Green, KY. for the 20yr. reunion featuring the 64 and 84 Corvettes. Then back to Clarksville before heading home, our 2 week vacation!

 

I wish I had my Dad's 1937 Chevy coupe dirt modified, to restore and put on the street.

 

I have few regrets as I still own the car I bought in High school but was does bother me is the cars I used to strip parts from. There were many a time back in the day when I would be given or buy a muscle or classic car for peanuts that nowadays was perfectly restorable and running only to grab a few parts off it and send it to the junk yard!

 

1961 Ford Starliner with 390 ci 300 hp engine. Sold it to buy 65 Pontiac GTO. If I could have either back would take Starliner.

 

High School cars...57 Chevy 210 6 stick 2 door sedan and a 61 Impala 283 stick shift 2 door bubble top. The 57 I paid $75.00 for and flipped it for $250.00. The 61 I paid $85.00 and drove the wheels of it and eventually junked it.

 

Would like to have my 68 Camaro back. Sold it cheap after my divorce because I was feeling down and didn't feel like I'd ever get around to fixing it up.
