Hot Rods My $40 wallhanger

    Picked up this old bent, twisted "mor drop " axle for my 40 Ford . Sure wish it was in better shape , but for $40 I can just hang it on my garage wall . I thought about calling Sid's , but probably cheaper and better to start with a good stock axle . Later Bill

    That looks like a keeper. I have a "wall hanger" axle that is a chromed Magnum ductile cast axle and ductile cast does indeed bend,

    There must have been a sale on those cause I bought one with the same bend in it. Good spindles and brakes though.

    My wife has straightened more than a few of those...the 'twists' are toughest, but she just cut some 3/8" plate, tacked it, and had me weld it into the coolest 'staid' you could use.
    Presto... 20 ton press, a 'prop', and careful placement for each bend.
    Usually takes her less than 4 'pushes', even if twisted.
    I've done them for years...she was looking for some excuse to use the press, as she usually does spring leaves...de-arching, stacking, (all get the matching arc).

    Your wife does springs and straighten s axles ? Wow , you won the lottery. How cool is that.:):cool:

    Personally I have a firm policy- never teach her how to use anything that can be used to hurt me. But then I have 2 ex wives
