Projects My 57 210 2 door hardtop update

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Nos1partstore, Nov 29, 2018.

  1. I vote for no qtr-panel inserts. I think you will have more fun with the car at shows, out in public, if you present it as the 210 it is. I have a '56 210 HT. I took it to a show about 10 years ago, and listened to some blow-hard tell his buddies Chevrolet never made a 210-HT, but that I or someone else had taken a Belair HT and dressed it down into 210 trim. Ohhh brother...

Being that the quarters are a little wavy, the insert could help straighten/hide a little....however Ive also seen only a straight piece of trim or a pinstripe hide or distract the eye as well in a big area like that;)

A body shop owner I once worked for called all trim, moldings, and emblems "camouflage". The more a vehicle had, the merrier he was.

Had one also. Was told in the tech line it was 400lbs less than a Bel-Air. Never did verify that. Sounds fishy and I've tried looking that un and still cant verify that it did. Anyone here know??

34Larry, there is not that much difference in weight between a 210 and a Bel Air hardtops. Chevrolet lists the following shipping weights (no options) for V8/manual trans sport coupes: Bel Air....3274, 210.....3256. For comparison, a V8/ stick 150 2 door utility sedan (business coupe), the lightest Chevrolet in 57 except for Corvette, has a shipping weight of 3159. And as strange as it sounds, the 265/283 weighs less than the 235.

It looks blue, but I like Seafoam green too. So anyway, MERRRRRY Christmas.

  24. Nice........Hope to see you cruising it around town this summer. I love the 210 look with paint, no inserts. That'd look killer with black tires, steel wheels in body color and dog dish 'caps but that's just me.
I've had a few Bel Air hardtops and the extra trim really does help to hide wavy body work...case in Point is my old 57 Bel Air. 57chevy.jpg
