  1. In 1972, I and a couple of squadron buddies, flew to Coco Beach for a tour through both the civilian and military side of the complex. The most remembered events of that weekend, were getting accommodated in a room reserved for generals, walking through the control room, standing under a Saturn five rocket on the launch pad, and standing on the expanded steel top platform and looking down through my feet, 500 ft to the ground. That was an eery feeling. I am a pilot, but the only way I will climb a ladder, is if I can keep one foot on the ground. What a wonderful experience, I will never forget it.
