Technical 1957 chevy 3100 chop top

I recently bought this truck .Looks like it was a 80`s build ? .I am trying to find out how much was chopped does any one have the stock dimensions on the glass or window openings etc.?

 

I can't help you with measurements, but I've gotta say that's one sweet looking ride!

 

I am trying to find out who built it ? It has a firebird front clip an 455 pontiac motor and a trans am dash and ford stepside rear fenders ..A johnny Cash special..

 

Can't help with actual measurement either (truck is long gone) but this is 4". Yours looks slightly taller to me so maybe 2.5-3"?

 

the original window opening in the door was 16-1/4 inches tall

They are 12-3/4 so a 3 1/2 chop ...

 

It's getting VERY difficult to find a glazier that can (or will) cut down a wrap around windshield. Of the two I used one passed and the other retired.

 

I read or someone told me they use a 55-57 chevy car front windshield ? Not sure if it is true.

 

car windshield wont work, different wrap around. In a pinch you can heat and use lexan or Plexiglas to form a new windshield, though i wouldn't do that in a car that will be driven. In the early 90's my grandfather built a 55 Chevy pickup with a 6" chop, had to use the plastic for both front and rear glass as it was a big back window as well.

 

probably not true...there are a lot of wild rumors in the hot rod and custom world.
