Judging by the signage, storefronts and what little you can see in the store I'd say it's an old photo... at least the background. As to the rearend, the wheels have an odd offset. They aren't "deep", that helps tuck them some..... I wonder what's under the hood. I see what looks like tow-bar mounts.....
I'm guessing mid to late 60s photo. The early 60s Porsche in front, indicates it might be in a well to do neighborhood?
I sure hope it's a photoshop I'm not a member of the "Baby Bird Fan Club", but as far as styling goes, I've always admired them, jsut not a fan of the Y block or the way they drove and handled. IMO, this modification would destroy the only positive aspect of this beautifully styled car.
I vote photoshop. The car just seems a little too large for its surroundings, especially the car sitting behind it, even if you take perspective into consideration.
If I saw this going past in the opposite direction I'd pull a Jim Rockford turn and chase this down to get a photo. I dig the look and if it's in southern Cali it makes perfect sense. That looks like a Ford Fairmont behind it giving me the impression that this is a '70s photograph.
.............With all due respect for my elders, it looks like a Buick Special circa '61 or '62 to me.......If Jim can identify the Porsche in front of it, maybe he can tell us what's parked behind it.
it's obviously not a fairmont (the hood overlaps the grille on the mystery car), but I haven't identified it yet....
It was one of those "first thing that comes to mind" cases...Wait a second, who you calling an elder!?
That was my first thought too. Interesting, now I'm leaning towards a later Valiant. Now that it was mentioned, the thing looks huge in perspective to it's surroundings. These were pretty small cars remember. I'm votin' a decent p'shop...but I still think it's cool beans.
We had a club member in the late 70's that had a baby bird that was on a 4x4 frame, he screwed a very nice car. HRP
There was a small website that belonged to a fellow from Georgia, that detailed a Late Model T-Bird that his dad had built from a '55 and a '57. If memory serves me correctly, it was a '55 with a '57 rear clip. I also think he had a link in the stock car picture thread that is on here.
So, no one knows where James Anthony's Barbershop was or is?....Apparently it's right next door to a drapery shop.
